Head of Talent
The AI Policy Network (AIPN) is a bipartisan, independent 501(c)(4) advocacy organization dedicated to advancing secure AI development that serves America's economic prosperity, technological leadership, and national security. We provide policymakers with technically-grounded perspectives on emerging AI capabilities and risks, with particular focus on ensuring advanced AI systems remain reliable, controllable, and aligned with their intended purposes.
I. Position Summary
The AI Policy Network (AIPN) is hiring a Head of Talent to own hiring as we scale. We are growing quickly and often have multiple searches open at once. This position owns the hiring funnel end to end: running first screens, sourcing candidates, and keeping every search moving. You will work directly with hiring managers and organizational leadership.
II. Responsibilities
- Review applications and run first-round screens across all open roles, assessing fit and flagging strong candidates for hiring managers.
- Project manage all open searches such that no search stalls and no hiring manager is overloaded.
- Source and engage candidates through in-person events, job boards, LinkedIn, referrals, and direct outreach, with particular focus on senior roles.
- Strengthen the hiring process we already run: consistent screening questions and scorecards, shorter time-to-fill, best practices.
- Draft and post job descriptions; keep the careers page and external listings current.
- Manage candidate pipelines and keep our applicant tracking organized, accurate, and up to date.
- Coordinate interview scheduling between candidates, hiring managers, and senior staff.
- Keep candidates informed at every stage and represent AIPN as a welcoming, professional first point of contact.
- Track recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, pipeline health, source quality) and report on them regularly.
- Advise hiring managers on interviewing and evaluation, so every search is run to the same standard.
III. Qualifications
- 6+ years of recruiting or talent experience, including owning searches for director-level roles and above; in-house, agency, or campaign settings all welcome.
- Experience improving a hiring process already in motion, whether that meant tightening screens or bringing down time-to-fill.
- Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment in evaluating candidates over virtual and in-person interviews.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage many searches at once without dropping details.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication; proficiency with Google Workspace and an applicant tracking system (we use Greenhouse).
- Comfortable recruiting for a bipartisan organization, where candidates and colleagues come from across the political spectrum.
- Interest in AI, technology policy, or national-security issues.
- Self-directed initiator with an upbeat, whatever-it-takes attitude.
To apply, please include a cover letter as a PDF describing your interest in AIPN and how you would approach helping us scale from 12 FTE to 30 over the next year.
