Field Engineering Director
Opportunity
Airbyte is seeking a Bay Area-based Field Engineering Director to join our sales team, reporting directly to the Head of Sales. This person will join the founding management team, and will have a great impact not only building and leading the team, but also in defining our GTM strategy.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and scale our Sales Engineering (SE) team, ensuring our customers have access to our top-tier technical resources
- Hire, mentor and empower our SEs
- Manage and drive the technical win to reach team targets
- Collaborate with AEs, SEs, post-sales, marketing and product teams to refine and update technical presentations, demos and POCs based on buyer personas. Enable the team on how to sell to technical buyers effectively
- Influence strategic account plans for larger clients
- Provide critical feedback to product and engineering teams, including input to product roadmap
- Collaborate with internal cross functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction, product adoption and long-term success
- Participate in the execution of team and cross-functional initiatives set by senior leadership
- Promote products and Airbyte solutions at regional conferences, forums, and seminars
- Participate in regional industry events/organizations to share your point of view
- Travel up to 20% to engage with customers and work with team members
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years leading pre-sales and post-sales teams at high-growth SaaS companies.
- Highly technical background in data, or other leading infrastructure tech companies with a strong GTM focus
- Deep understanding of technical personas—their pain points, priorities, and decision-making processes
- Experience supporting multiple customer segments: Mid-Market, Enterprise and strategic customers
- History of overachievement of quota in previous roles
- Natural curiosity, and desire to solve problems
- Demonstrated success working with Fortune 1000 customers
- Stellar interpersonal and customer relationship skills
- Extraordinary presentation skills, with the ability to establish trust across a range of technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to influence technical decision makers and executives
- Ability to work as part of a team - hungry, humble, and smart
- 4-year technical degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
Location
- San Francisco. Onsite 3x/week.
Compensation
- $220,000 - $280,000 Base + Variable + a generous equity package, and benefits listed below for the U.S. market.
