Senior Process Engineer

Berkeley, CA

At Aircapture we’re creating and scaling a circular carbon economy to solve what we believe to be our lifetime's most pressing challenge: the climate crisis. We supply commercial and industrial customers with clean CO2 captured from our atmosphere to radically improve the environment, our economy, and our lives. We value building a team of people who represent diverse backgrounds--be it thought, education, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation--to reach our goals. Thank you for considering us.

We’re looking for a Senior Process Engineer who can see the whole system, connect the dots, and turn ambitious ideas into fully integrated, working processes. You will integrate new processes into our DAC (Direct Air Capture) technology—looking at the entire plant, spot opportunities, and scale ideas from concept to production. If you're excited about scaling clean tech from concept to reality—and want to work on climate-critical technology at a groundbreaking startup—this role is for you!

Please Note–due to the requirements of our federal contracts, we can only hire a green card holder or U.S. Citizen for this role.

Salary: $150,000 - $185,000 per year

  • Mentor junior engineers, including signing off on design changes, conceptualize new systems, and technically guiding their development
  • Partner with Supply Chain and vendors to spec and procure major equipment, manage timelines, and align on execution

Your Skills and Abilities Include

  • 7+ years of Process Engineering experience, ideally including 2 full-cycle process engineering projects from concept through operation
  • Experience working at or with large-scale industrial companies, with a clear understanding of systems integration and operational best practices–experience in the DAC or commercial gas industry a plus
  • Comfortable independently communicating with equipment suppliers with experience acquiring executable proposals
  • Proficiency with process modeling tools (e.g., Aspen Plus) and CAD software for process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, GAs. etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of P&ID standards to create, communicate and build our project designs, which vary in size and scope
  • Hands-on comfort with large systems and control strategies
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and working cross-functionally with technical and operations teams
