Senior Electrical Engineer

Berkeley, CA

At Aircapture we’re creating and scaling a circular carbon economy to solve what we believe to be our lifetime's most pressing challenge: the climate crisis. We supply commercial and industrial customers with clean CO2 captured from our atmosphere to radically improve the environment, our economy, and our lives. We value building a team of people who represent diverse backgrounds–be it thought, education, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation–to reach our goals. Thank you for considering us.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be instrumental in the electrical development and installation of our Direct Air Capture “DAC” systems. You will propel the conceptualization, design, and manufacturing of the DAC systems as we work together to mitigate the impacts of climate change. If you are excited to have a major impact at a groundbreaking climate technology startup, this is the role for you!

Salary: $160,000-180,000 per year

What You’ll Do Here

  • Design, develop, and iterate on electrical systems for Aircapture’s Direct Air Capture (DAC) units, from prototype through production
  • Own schematics, PCB design, and system integration across sensors, controls, power electronics, and embedded systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to deliver robust, scalable hardware
  • Lead testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in both lab and field environments
  • Drive design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost as we scale from pilot to commercial deployment
  • Support deployment of systems in the field, including commissioning, diagnostics, and performance optimization
  • Establish and document electrical engineering standards, best practices, and design processes
  • Evaluate and integrate new components, vendors, and technologies to improve system performance and efficiency

Your Skills and Abilities Include

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar area of study
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, ideally in hardware, climate tech, energy systems, or industrial environments
  • Strong experience with PCB design, analog/digital circuits, and system-level electrical architecture
  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems, sensors, and control systems
  • Track record of taking products from prototype to production in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally to integrate hardware and software systems
  • Familiarity with power systems, high-voltage design, or industrial controls is a strong plus
  • Experience with field-deployed hardware, testing, and failure analysis is a plus
  • Comfort operating in a startup environment with high ownership, ambiguity, and rapid iteration
  • Passion for climate solutions and building technologies that have real-world impact
