A Snapshot
As the Senior Technical Services Manager, you will report to the Operations Director and work closely with the rest of the Operations team, making your mark in a number of ways:
- Oversee critical environment maintenance planning activities at your data centre
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of Technical Services Managers, and contract management of site facilities providers for the tactical delivery of maintenance activities
- Work closely with Building Services Manager on other property related matters
Please note, this role will be mainly based in our data centre in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Your Day to Day
- Effectively manage the site and achieve 100% uptime and compliance with customers' SLAs and safety
- Oversee the planning and coordination of all preventive maintenance and repair works; ensure change management, incident management procedures and safety requirements are followed; coordinate activities as required with customers
- Coordinate with development team to manage construction activity and installations, to ensure system design, installation and testing adhere to operational standards
- Review and support customer capacity management plan to ensure power capacity is well maintained and within limitations
- Maintain site operating procedures (SOP, MOP, EOP) and any other documentation required by law, e.g. RA, SWMS and EHS
- Ensure compliance with site held accreditations, including, but not limited to, ISMS, SOC2, PCI, ISO9001, ISO14001
- Maintain compliance with local regulatory requirements including environmental, building, fire, electrical, hydraulic, occupational health & safety
- Primary operational contact for customers and local point of escalation during emergency events and day-to-day operations
- Attend witness testing of all equipment during commissioning to validate sequence of operations
- Receive and review all operational documentation for new capacity
- Handle provisioning of data centre services including connectivity, power services, deployment, and any additional services to be delivered to the data centre customers
- Manage minor capital projects for customers/internal purposes
- Run all maintenance and repair vendors and OPEX budget
- Track operational metrics, data and analyse risks
- Conduct regular property inspections
- Evaluate plans and promote operational efficiency, passion for continuous improvement including power utilisation and cost efficiency
Requirements
- 8+ years of mechanical and electrical experience in data centres (preferred), facilities, engineering operations, semiconductor, trades or related fields
- Electrical or mechanical trade background or degree preferred. Solid understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power and cooling systems, fire, and security systems
- Knowledge of local statutory regulations and requirements
- Ability to establish and review Method of Procedure documents, maintenance reports, incident reports, emergency event summaries, root cause analysis reports, CAPEX/OPEX budget forecasts/reports and O&M manuals
- Able to read and comprehend single line diagrams
- Experience running 3rd party service providers; setting and managing critical metrics, negotiating contracts and pricing for services
- Familiarity with Customer Portals, BMS, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, CAD is a plus
- Good leadership and experience in supervising small teams of technical staff
- Effective key partner management experience
- Strong customer centric approach, and ability to drive front-line staff attitude change
- Ability to deliver effective presentations
