A Snapshot
As the Construction EHS Lead, you will play a critical role in advancing safety excellence across development projects in the region. Reporting to the Senior Regional EHS Manager – SGP/ MY/HKG, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed a proactive, high-performance safety culture throughout all phases of project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Culture Building:
- Champion a zero-harm safety culture, actively engaging contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Drive a culture of transparent reporting, empowerment, and accountability at all project levels.
- Mentor stakeholders on safety practices to ensure world-class project outcomes.
Planning & Risk Mitigation:
- Lead Safety in Design workshops and contribute to the development of Construction Methodology Plans.
- Partner with General Contractors (GCs) to proactively identify and mitigate high-risk activities using the hierarchy of controls.
- Integrate safety considerations into construction contracts and execution planning.
Compliance & System Implementation:
- Ensure alignment with legal safety standards, internal policies, and WHS regulations.
- Support the continual development and execution of the EHS Management System to position the company as a global safety leader.
- Facilitate vendor prequalification and EHS due diligence processes.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Conduct routine site inspections, virtual site walks, and audits (internal, monthly, quarterly).
- Prepare and review weekly/monthly EHS reports, including incident reviews and board-level summaries.
- Leverage ProCore to manage observations, actions, and compliance tracking.
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and implementation of corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying safety opportunities and closing gaps in systems or behaviors.
- Review and validate Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and ensure effective follow-up through S.M.A.R.T. actions.
Engagement & Communication:
- Conduct regular EHS meetings, toolbox talks, and focus groups.
- Actively participate in Good Save and Walk & Reward programs to promote safety awareness.
- Lead internal and external EHS discussions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Partner closely with the General Contractor to ensure project execution aligns with best-in-class safety standards.
- Lead planning, observation, audit, and reporting activities with a focus on high-risk areas.
- Establish WhatsApp incident reporting groups for rapid response and communication.
- Oversee the development and execution of contractor incentives and recognition programs.
Requirements
- 10years of experience with 5+ years experience in construction EHS, ideally with a Tier 1 or 2 builder.
- Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent; DOSH-certified Safety Manager preferred.
- Strong background in Data Center projects is advantageous.
- Skilled in risk management, audit execution, and incident investigation.
- Proficient in EHS systems (e.g., ProCore) and data reporting.
- Fluent in English with excellent written and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and influencing capabilities across all organizational levels.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
