A Snapshot  

As the Associate Vice President, Prefabrication & Innovation, you will report to the Vice President, Development and collaborate closely with the Development, Product, Technology and Operations teams, making your mark in a number of ways:  

  • Design and implement a scalable prefabrication strategy to support AirTrunk’s rapid expansion across the APAC region, enhancing speed-to-market and operational efficiency.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of prefabrication and innovation specialists, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the integration of DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principles into the design and delivery of hyperscale data centres, ensuring seamless coordination across design, procurement, and construction.
  • Champion innovation and emerging technologies that improve safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness in prefabricated construction.
  • Act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including design consultants, contractors, and manufacturing partners, to align prefabrication strategies with project and business objectives. 

Your Day to Day  

  • Work to innovate and advance the use of prefabricated products, services, and methods though the entire project lifecycle. 
  • Create awareness of prefabrication and off-site construction opportunities by engineering, evaluating, estimating, and communicating opportunities for business adoption.  
  • Lead and manage DfMA Prefab MEP projects, ensuring seamless integration of design, production, and installation processes for MEP systems.  
  • Review building designs and assess the buildability of MEP systems and prefabricated structures and consider plant installation and replacement strategies to optimize data centre design.
  • Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Analyse procurement strategies and lead time impacts to optimize project timelines through prefabrication.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and innovative methodologies to enhance safety, quality, time and cost outcomes, and drive Safety in Design.  
  • Engage with new and existing partners to innovate and continuously improve solutions, advancing and developing for future design adoption.  
  • Support project teams in developing Prefabrication Execution Plans and develop strategies for effective project delivery in implementation.  
  • Partner with Design and Preconstruction teams to define prefabrication scopes and contribute to the Basis of Design.
  • Participate in BIM coordination to ensure accurate representation of prefabricated components.
  • Facilitate communication between manufacturers and project teams to align on technical and logistical requirements.
  • Conduct site and vendor visits to assess capabilities and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team focused on innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Capture, share and apply lessons learned to refine prefabrication strategies and best practices.
  • Manage the tendering and onboarding process for prefabrication vendors and partners.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to enhance system performance and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure all prefabrication activities comply with relevant codes, regulations, and authority requirements.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Travel to project sites as necessary to support execution and stakeholder engagement. 

Minimum requirements:   

  • Strong understanding of various project delivery models and the integration of prefabrication within those frameworks.
  • Demonstrated passion for innovation and advancing prefabrication practices in the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, collaborate, and engage with cross-functional teams and industry experts.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify, evaluate, and develop new prefabrication products and solutions.
  • Strong commitment to customer service, with a focus on both internal and external stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Confident and persuasive communicator, capable of negotiating and influencing at all organizational levels.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to coordinate across diverse teams and manage multiple concurrent projects, with strong problem-solving and risk management capabilities.
  • Exceptional planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Professional attitude with persuasive skills in making things happen   
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required to support project and business needs. 

Preferred requirements:   

  • Extensive technical expertise in construction, with deep industry knowledge specific to data centre environments.
  • Proven experience in ACS (Architectural, Civil, Structural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) coordination.
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and managing high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Significant hands-on experience in prefabrication, particularly in mission-critical or high-tech infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with experience reviewing supply agreements and managing procurement and logistics.
  • Background in cost management and the ability to conduct cost-benefit analyses to inform prefabrication strategies.
  • Regional experience across Asia-Pacific markets, including Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design tools such as AutoCAD and Navisworks.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with seismic design considerations in prefabricated systems.
  • Demonstrated success working within matrixed organizational structures.
  • Self-starter with a quick learning curve and the ability to adapt to evolving project and business requirements.
