The Operations Engineer (ROC) is pivotal in translating operational needs into tangible business results. By deeply understanding both data centre/asset operations and the enabling technologies, this role ensures that automation and remote operations are aligned with real-world business objectives.
The Operations Engineer acts as a bridge between operations and technology teams, driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and risk reduction. Through proactive problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and a relentless focus on reliability and performance, the role directly contributes to enhanced customer satisfaction, cost optimisation, and the achievement of strategic business goals.
Your Day to Day
- Act as the operational subject matter expert within the ROC, ensuring that business needs and operational realities are clearly communicated to technology and automation teams.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate operational requirements into effective technology solutions, supporting the evolution of our ROC platform.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging operational data and stakeholder feedback to enhance reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Support incident response, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis, ensuring lessons learned are fed back into operational processes.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to communicate operational status, business impacts, and actionable insights.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, and champion best practices in data governance and operational integrity.
- Contribute to the development of documentation, reporting, and dashboards that support operational decision-making and leadership visibility.
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost savings, working closely with local Operations Teams and the ROC.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field
- 3+ years’ experience in data centre, asset operations, or similar industrial environments
- Strong understanding of DC/asset operations, maintenance, and business processes
- Proven ability to act as a bridge between operations and technology teams, translating business needs into technical requirements
- Experience with incident response, change management, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of AI and agile ways of working is essential
- Knowledge of automation and remote operations in a critical environment
- Knowledge and experience in building automation
