At AirTrunk, we’ve all come together to deliver data centres that meet and grow with the needs of our large cloud, content and enterprise customers.
As the Energy & Utility Manager based in Singapore, you will report to the Director, Energy & Utility and work closely with the rest of the Energy and Technology team to shape and implement our energy strategy to support AirTrunk’s continued growth.
You will work with the leading global internet and technology companies and make a massive difference to how we source and use energy, making your mark in a number of ways:
- Lead engagement with power utilities and transmission network providers to secure capacity for new and expanding data center developments, with primary focus on Malaysia and broader coverage across Southeast Asia.
- Direct power feasibility assessments and grid connection studies through coordination with external consultants and engagement with local utilities.
- Manage energy procurement initiatives for AirTrunk data centers, including supplier selection, tariff optimisation, market price analysis, and demand response participation.
Your Day to Day
- Oversee utility grid connection processes and applications, including load forecasting, power application submissions and management of connection cost budget.
- Manage and negotiate retail electricity supply agreements (“brown” contracts), leveraging a range of contracting structures to balance cost and risk.
- Support renewable energy sourcing strategies and broader sustainability initiatives in line with customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with utilities, energy retailers, technical advisors, and other key stakeholders.
- Scope may expand to support additional regional markets such as South Korea, Taiwan, and other future AirTrunk locations.
- Engage with grid utilities and energy retailers on capacity availability, connection application status, timelines, contractual structures etc.
- Plan and project manage energy projects (grid connection, retail supply, renewable procurement etc).
- Engage with our customers to identify and meet energy requirements.
- Collaborate with our Design, Site Selection and Development teams on energy needs.
- Create and present summary reports in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Join regular team meetings and progress updates.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, e.g. power utility & grid planning, grid connection process and technical submissions for data centres.
- Strong understanding of energy markets in the SEA region.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking, comfortable with data analysis and presentation (especially in PowerPoint and Excel).
- Ability to understand electrical drawings is a bonus.
- High level of motivation to learn and grow in the role.
