
Special Education tutor
Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic educator to provide personalized 1-on-1 instruction to students with ADHD and autism, as well as mentor neurotypical middle school students. This role is vital in fostering a supportive learning environment and promoting academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized educational sessions to students with ADHD and autism.
- Mentor and support neurotypical middle school students in their academic and personal development.
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to ensure cohesive support for each student's educational journey.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and participation.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with students with ADHD and autism.
- Strong mentoring and interpersonal skills with a passion for working with middle school students.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to develop and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
We require a commitment of at least 15 hours/week for the full school year. A full time role may also be available for a qualified candidate. $33-$40/hour
AJ Tutoring and Cypress College Prep are sister organizations that share space in downtown Menlo Park. AJ offers 1-on-1 tutoring to middle and high schoolers after school, while Cypress offers a fully accredited school during regular school hours.
