Location:

Akaysha’s head office is in Melbourne AU, with offices in Sydney, Singapore, and Portland; however, we also offer flexible and remote working arrangements.

This position will ideally be based in Sydney, AU office, or remotely in AU or US. 

Reporting to:

General Manager, Battery Systems. 

The role:

You will support BESS technology procurement and integration works as a senior member of the Battery Systems Engineering Team on Akaysha Energy’s large portfolio of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and renewable energy projects including:

• Lead technical role overseeing Akaysha's self-integration of preferred BESS suppliers with preferred PCS and controls suppliers
• Advising development and commercial teams on appropriate suppliers for each project - requesting indicative quotes and building cost models to track and compare pricing
• Reviewing and providing comments on supply and service agreements for BESS and PCS - engaging and negotiating with supplier engineers as necessary.
• Meeting with potential suppliers and providing technical due diligence on their products
• Maintaining internal tools and supplier database to track technical specs, pricing, and performance guarantees
• Supporting the finance team with feedback on project due diligence reports and technical RFIs from potential investors.
• Supporting the delivery team as BESS or PCS specific RFIs arise during construction.
• Supporting the asset management team as BESS or PCS specific questions arise during operations.

What you'll bring:

• BS or MS in Electrical, Electronic, or Power Systems Engineering
• 3+ years' experience in a generation, renewables, transmission, or distribution electrical engineering role
• Extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, application of engineering methods and materials.
• Preferably experience and proven knowledge of primary and secondary electrical systems.
• Preferably experience working on utility-scale energy storage systems, renewable energy project or transmission system design and delivery.
• Preferably experience with BESS controls integration, data mapping, and testing.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and work with a small, fast-paced team, learning and making critical decisions quickly.
