Reporting to:
Senior Project Manager.
The role:
This role supports the development and delivery pillar, assisting all project teams with Civil related matters such as project planning, design management, reviewing project relevant documentation, permits and technical support during construction phase and project handover.
You'll be exposed to a wide range of projects and environments - as such, things will be fluid and interesting. In addition, this is an opportunity to work on some of the largest BESS projects in the NEM including but not limited to Orana BESS (1.6GWh), Brendale BESS (410MWh) and a strong development pipeline.
Unlike other BESS Developers; we build, own and operate our assets at Akaysha - in both Australian and international markets - this creates a unique opportunity to be exposed to the whole project Lifecyle (Origination, development, construction, operation and decommissioning). There are also opportunities to implement your ideas on how civil projects can be done faster and efficiently.
Working on various projects will challenge you and expand your experience in the civil space. There are opportunities to further your career as a subject matter expert or move into a project management role as Akaysha's assets under construction continue to grow.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide civil technical support to the development and engineering teams
- Review technical documents such as Hydrology reports, Geotechnical reports and Stormwater Management plans identifying potential project risks and factoring those in preliminary site layouts development
- Review and manage all aspects of civil and structural design, and provide recommendations to improve the design in terms of cost and time of construction
- Assist the Project Manager with project scheduling, providing budget estimates, reviewing and assessing contractor variation claims, cost tracking and quality assurance during project delivery
- Provide construction support to the site team and manage site issues as they arise
- Assist the Project Manager in managing the EPC contractor and system integrator through all stages of the project
- Liaise with Fire Fighting Authorities and manage the development of Fire Safety Studies required by the Development approval
- Review, develop and improve all the relevant construction management documentation including but not limited to Project Specifications, HSEQ management plans, Traffic Management Plans and Emergency Response Plans
What you'll bring:
- Civil Engineer with minimum 5 years experience in design and construction
- Experience with development of Solar, Wind or Battery projects
- Experience with project estimating, evaluating variation claims
Experience working on road or large infrastructure projects, dealings with fire authorities, and/or extensive onsite experience is highly regarded.
Please be aware you must be an Australian citizen, hold permanent residency status or have existing AU working rights to apply for this role.
