Location:
Akaysha's Head Office is located in Melbourne (Cremorne), it is our preference for this position to be based in this office - however, we would consider our Sydney, CBD office as an alternate location. We're open to a hybrid working style; spend time in the office and at home.

The role:
This role offers an opportunity to lead the Cybersecurity operations within IT and OT at Akaysha and build best practices across multiple locations, and multiple legal entities for the business.
You'll find yourself with responsibilities that range from leading cyber incident investigation and remediation, to working closely with an outsourced SOC provider alongside the implementation and maintenance of security tooling and deploying security policies. In addition, the role will help maintain the security assurance program and organise penetration testing with external security vendors, the position will also help stand up the vulnerability and patch management program for both IT and OT. You'll own the domain (Cyber Engineering) at a global level, and establish the best tooling suite from their experience alongside leading cyber incident response activities.
Ultimately, you'll have the unique opportunity to develop the cybersecurity strategy for the business and grow a team to support local sites and sites across the globe as the business grows.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Security Operations: Lead day-to-day operations of the managed Security Operations Centre (SOC), ensuring efficient threat detection, response, and incident remediation. Maintain and enhance incident response plans and playbooks while serving as the lead technical advisor for security incidents.
- Security Tools and Solution: Lead day-to-day operations of cybersecurity tools and systems. Evaluate, recommend, and integrate security tools across IT and OT (Operational Technology) environments. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for security operations.
- Testing and Assurance: Support security testing programs, including but not limited to, vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and red/blue team exercises. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to remediate identified vulnerabilities.
- Help prepare reports on security performance status and incidents to management.
- Help develop and implement cybersecurity controls and processes and ensure a high level of cyber maturity.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to ensure enterprise-wide security alignment.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support cybersecurity initiatives and projects.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Cybersecurity engineering or a related role, preferably within the energy industry.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Sentinel SIEM.
- Experience in OT security is preferrable.
- In-depth knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices and industry standards
- Understanding of BESS technology and its integration with the power grid.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
