Location:
Ideally, this role will be based at Akaysha's Head Office in Melbourne, Cremorne. We'd also consider our Sydney office as an alternate location.
Reporting to:
General Manager, Accounting
The role:
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial reporting, including statutory accounts and management reports.
- Review significant and complex accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with AASB9 and other relevant accounting standards.
- Oversee the workflow and performance of a team of four financial accountants.
- Manage external Big Four advisors to ensure timely and accurate reporting and month-end close.
- Develop and review accounting policy papers, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Oversee revenue recognition processes by analyzing and assessing settlements data.
- Ensure full compliance with tax obligations, including income tax, GST, and payroll tax, for both Australian and international entities.
- Manage payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Ensuring proper controls of accounting operations (Invoicing of Electricity generated, monitoring of receivables, payments, etc.)
- Monitoring debt drawdown, and compliance with debt covenants and mandatory operational and financial reports
- Provision of required reports under the facility agreements
- Lead the annual external Big4 audit.
- Assist the finance team in resolving complex technical accounting issues.

What you'll bring:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- Big Four experience (audit or private enterprise).
- Extensive experience in energy, utilities, or infrastructure industries.
- Deep technical expertise in AASB9 and financial instruments accounting.
- Proven ability to manage statutory reporting, with at least nine years of financial reporting experience (including two to three years in a senior financial leadership role).
- Strong tax compliance knowledge and experience.
Highly Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Hedge accounting experience.
- Payroll management experience.
- US GAAP knowledge.
- Proficiency in Xero, Excel, and WorkDay.
