Reporting to:

Senior Manager, Project Controls

The role:

This role is primarily responsible for overseeing scheduling and project control activities for Akaysha Energy's BESS projects, with key duties including the use of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and OPC for scheduling. Additionally, the role encompasses financial and procurement control tasks. The individual in this position will manage project schedules throughout the delivery phase, ensuring projects remain on track by monitoring critical paths and addressing potential delays. By effectively managing schedules, this role will provide crucial support to project managers, ensuring the timely and within-budget delivery of projects. The impact of this position is essential in maintaining project momentum and mitigating risks to the project's overall success.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Regularly tracking the progress of ongoing projects, ensuring milestones and deadlines are being met. This may involve reviewing project timelines, updating schedules, and identifying potential delays.
  • Adjusting project schedules as needed to reflect any changes or delays, and ensuring all relevant stakeholders have access to the most up-to-date information.
  • Coordination with Project Teams: Communicating with various project team members to collect status updates, identify any challenges or delays, and adjust the schedule accordingly.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Preparing fortnightly and monthly progress reports for project managers, stakeholders, and team members, highlighting completed tasks, upcoming deadlines, and potential issues.
  • Identifying potential risks or bottlenecks that could impact the project schedule and proactively implementing corrective actions or contingency plans.
  • Ensuring that tasks are completed in the correct order by monitoring task dependencies and addressing any scheduling conflicts.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Engaging with stakeholders (internal teams, contractors, clients) to ensure alignment on project timelines and expectations.
  • Anticipating potential delays or resource constraints and adjusting the project schedule accordingly to maintain project momentum.
  • Maintain a centralized schedule repository for easy access and reference

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in renewable and construction Industry.
  • Proficiency in Scheduling Software: Expertise in tools like OPC, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or other project management software.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and project schedules simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify potential issues or discrepancies within schedules and correct them before they impact the project.
  • Time Management Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks such as PMI, Agile, or PRINCE2.
  • Understanding of EVM principles for tracking project performance in terms of schedule, cost, and scope.

Highly desirable experience but not crucial:

  • Experience in Financial Management: Knowledge of budgeting and cost tracking related to project schedules and timelines.
  • Familiarity with identifying and managing project risks to minimize impacts on the schedule.
  • Certifications like PMI-SP (PMI Scheduling Professional)
  • Familiarity with Agile Scheduling Practices: Understanding of how Agile methodology applies to project scheduling, particularly in fast-paced or iterative projects.
  • Experience in Managing Large-Scale Projects: Previous experience in scheduling for large, complex projects can help in dealing with more sophisticated scheduling challenges.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including macros and pivot tables, for scheduling and reporting.
  • Experience in handling conflicts or discrepancies between team members, contractors, or clients related to scheduling.
  • Experience with construction planning techniques (e.g., Critical Path Method) can be beneficial.
