As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, you’ll be joining the Cyber team responsible for implementing best practices across three operational BESS sites to embed security by design, reduce attack surfaces, enhance visibility and ensure asset reliability and availability.  

Building on this momentum, the position will focus on operationalising and optimising cybersecurity practices across Akaysha’s segregated OT (BESS) and corporate IT environments. These environments have distinct security considerations and priorities, providing the opportunity to deepen your experience in OT while staying current with evolving IT security practices.   

This role provides the flexibility to be based at Akaysha’s Melbourne (HQ), or Sydney Office with the option to work in hybrid capacity – spend time in the office, and at home. 

Your experience will be critical in advancing Akaysha’s cyber maturity, and your work will make a tangible impact as you: 

• Own and enhance key security platforms to establish consistent, scalable processes for analysing alerts, prioritising risks, and driving timely remediation of vulnerabilities across internal and external delivery teams.
• Oversee all OT‑related penetration testing engagements to ensure effective planning, execution, and validation of remediation activities with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive uplift of cyber logging, monitoring, and incident response capabilities to improve visibility, log quality, event correlation, and response workflows across both IT and OT environments.
• Integrate threat intelligence into incident response workflows for proactive defence. 
   

Making an impact in this role will rely on experience across the following areas:   

• Incident Detection & Response:  
  Ability to lead cyber security incident response across OT and IT environments, ensuring effective threat detection, incident response, and remediation.
• Security Tools & Solutions Management:  
  Ability to design and operate security tools to drive security risk mitigations, and to ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks.
• Vulnerability Management:  
  Expertise in evaluating system and application vulnerabilities and interpreting their security impact to inform risk posture and remediation priorities.
• Cybersecurity Framework & Risk Management:  
  Proficiency in applying cybersecurity frameworks to guide control selection, risk assessment, and the design of security measures aligned to organisational requirements. 

Participation in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support for critical cyber incidents and urgent operational matters in accordance with company policies and incident response procedures is a requirement of this role.
