As Spot Trader, you’ll join the Energy Trading team supporting Akaysha’s formidable pipeline of battery assets as they continue to enter the AU market. Recently, they've commercialised operational assets new to the NEM and continue to define scalable strategies to solve complex market, risk and asset optimisation objectives for those to come, in a substantial and growing portfolio.  

Building on this momentum, the Spot Trader will continue to build strategies tailored to unique market and contractual opportunities, alongside executing multiple bidding strategies, autobidding parameters and trading protocols in the real-time dispatch of Akaysha’s assets into energy and fcas markets.  

Your experience will be critical in bringing new assets to market, improving trading results and implementing strategies as you: 

• Dispatch Akaysha’s assets in the NEM and FCAS markets using auto-bidding and manual strategies and establish trading procedures. 
• Develop and execute spot trading strategies, ensure contractual obligations are met, and analyse key market data in collaboration with the market analysis team. 
• Guide the design, development and optimisation of trading and analytical tools that support the market analysis team in identifying key data to enhance trading strategy execution. 
• Ensure Akaysha’s assets are deployed in line with all applicable market rules, laws, and internal compliance policies, and support the regulatory team by assessing rule changes and preparing submissions. 
• Collaborate cross functionally with Market Performance, Asset Management, Engineering, and Commercial teams to review trading performance, accurately record risks, and align workstreams for optimal trading outcomes. 

 Making an impact in this role will rely on experience across the following areas:   

• Proficiency with energy trading platforms, risk management systems, and advanced analytical tools for monitoring and optimising trading performance.

• Demonstrated expertise in energy markets, supported by a strong grasp of market dynamics, real-time dispatch operations, pricing structures, regulatory frameworks, and emerging trends.

• Clearly communicating relevant information and perspectives to the trading team and wider business, supporting shared understanding and informed decisions.

• Coding languages, ideally Python.
