Senior Manager, Cybersecurity

Cremorne, Victoria, Australia

The world is making the shift to cleaner energy, slowly. The planet is changing, fast.

That’s why Akaysha builds, owns, and operates the most powerful mega-scale battery storage solutions of today, and it’s why we’ll continue to build more. But what we are really building is a better future for everyone we share the planet with.

With a 30GWh+ portfolio spanning APAC, the Americas, and the EU and a global team of over 200, should we slow down, or should the world catch up?

As a Senior Manager, Cybersecurity Engineer, you’ll be joining the team responsible for delivering cyber maturity uplifts across IT and OT environments, strengthening regulatory compliance readiness and embedding secure-by-design practices into new BESS site delivery and operations, improving resilience and reducing risk across a growing, distributed critical infrastructure portfolio.

Building on this momentum, the position will lead the strategic direction of cybersecurity across Akaysha to establish enterprise-wide security strategy, governance, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

Your experience will be critical in aligning security with business priorities; with your work making a tangible impact as you:

  • Define and lead Akaysha’s enterprise cybersecurity strategy, governance, and executive reporting, embedding cyber as a core business capability aligned to growth, regulatory obligations, and Board/Audit Risk and Compliance expectations.
  • Lead multi-jurisdiction regulatory compliance, cyber risk management, assurance, and incident resilience activities, including vulnerability management, penetration testing, third-party risk, crisis exercises, and continuous improvement across Akaysha’s IT and OT environments.
  • Establish and strengthen secure architecture, policies, standards, identity, access, and data protection controls across IT and OT environments, while enabling the secure adoption of cloud, AI, and software development practices.
  • Embed cybersecurity requirements end to end across project delivery, partnering with IT, OT, and business leaders to integrate cyber into design, investment decisions, vendor contracts, and delivery frameworks.
  • Lead cyber capability uplift across tooling, processes, workforce planning, budgets, and vendor relationships, while enabling the secure adoption of emerging technologies including cloud, AI, and software development practices.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing cybersecurity team, fostering accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and a strong culture of collaboration and delivery.

This position will rely on experience across the following areas:

  • Shaping cybersecurity strategy, governance, and operating models that align security priorities with business growth, regulatory expectations, and executive decision-making.
  • Embedding secure architecture, standards, and controls across IT, OT, and project environments, with a strong understanding of secure-by-design delivery.
  • Strengthening cyber resilience through incident response, crisis management, vulnerability management, assurance activities, and continuous improvement.
  • Leading cybersecurity programmes, budgets, vendors, and cross-functional delivery teams to deliver practical outcomes across complex operating environments.
  • Enabling the secure adoption of cloud, AI, and software development practices, balancing innovation, risk, and operational effectiveness.
  • Developing cybersecurity policies, frameworks, and standards that are clear, practical, and aligned to regulatory, business, and operational needs.

This role provides the flexibility to be based at Akaysha’s Melbourne (HQ) in a hybrid capacity – spend time in the office, and at home.

Participation in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support for critical cyber incidents and urgent operational matters in accordance with company policies and incident response procedures is a requirement of this role.

We’re committed to staying ahead of the curve and consider our people to be Akaysha’s greatest asset.

To foster career growth and well-being, we offer professional development support that includes an annual development allowance and additional paid time off, a flexible-use wellbeing allowance, paid parental leave, competitive compensation, performance-based bonuses and long-term incentives.
