OT Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

Cremorne, Victoria, Australia; Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

The world is making the shift to cleaner energy, slowly. The planet is changing, fast.

That’s why Akaysha builds, owns, and operates the most powerful mega-scale battery storage solutions of today, and it’s why we’ll continue to build more. But what we are really building is a better future for everyone we share the planet with.

With a 30GWh+ portfolio spanning APAC, the Americas, and the EU and a global team of over 200, should we slow down, or should the world catch up?

As an OT Cloud Infrastructure Specialist, you’ll be joining the IT & Security team responsible for maintaining High System Integrity Protection Scheme (SIPS) Performance at Waratah Super Battery; the most powerful BESS globally. In addition, Akaysha is rapidly scaling its portfolio of battery energy storage assets across Australia and globally.

Building on this momentum, the role will focus on establishing mature operational ownership of Akaysha's OT cloud and infrastructure platforms, alongside improving OT platform resilience and the delivery of a platform-centric operating model that supports efficiency of scale as new BESS assets are commissioned. Each site presents unique technical and operational considerations, which provides the opportunity to work at the intersection of cloud engineering, cyber security, operational technology, and the energy transition.

Your expertise will directly influence the design, resilience, and security of infrastructure to support some of Australia's most significant battery energy storage assets as you:

  • Own and continuously improve OT cloud, identity and infrastructure platforms that support critical operational services across battery energy storage sites.
  • Strengthen OT identity and access controls by managing privileged access, RBAC, reviews and least-privilege practices across critical systems.
  • Manage OT server, virtualisation and infrastructure platforms through provisioning, patching, monitoring, lifecycle management and vendor engagement.
  • Improve platform resilience through backup management, disaster recovery planning, recovery testing and continuous improvement of operational readiness.
  • Support OT cyber security initiatives through infrastructure hardening, vulnerability remediation, compliance activities and audit support.

The role provides the flexibility to be based at Akaysha’s Melbourne (HQ), or Sydney office with the option to work in a hybrid capacity – spending time in the office, and at home. Occasional travel will be required (VIC, NSW, QLD).

Making an impact in this role will rely on proven expertise in the following areas:

  • Cloud Platforms
Proven experience with Azure cloud services, governance, security and hybrid infrastructure in complex operating environments.

  • Identity & Access Management
Strong knowledge of identity, authentication, privileged access and access governance across secure technology environments.

  • Server Infrastructure Administration
Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux servers, system hardening, patching and infrastructure lifecycle practices.

  • Virtualisation Platforms
Experience supporting VMware ESXi or similar virtualisation platforms, including performance, capacity and resilience.

  • Backup, Recovery & Resilience
Experience with backup platforms, disaster recovery, recovery testing and resilience practices in critical infrastructure settings.

  • Automation & Scripting
Strong PowerShell or scripting capability, with experience improving infrastructure operations through automation.

  • Documentation & Governance
Ability to produce clear technical documentation, standards, procedures and governance artefacts.

  • Cyber Security Compliance
Knowledge of cyber security controls, vulnerability management and compliance frameworks such as AESCSF or IEC 62443.

We’re committed to staying ahead of the curve and consider our people to be Akaysha’s greatest asset.

To foster career growth and well-being, we offer professional development support that includes an annual development allowance and additional paid time off, a flexible-use wellbeing allowance, paid parental leave, competitive compensation, performance-based bonuses and long-term incentives.

We believe diverse teams build better solutions for the planet and its people. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to do their best work, no matter their background, identity, or lived experience.
