Senior Manager - IT Infrastructure
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on and technically adept IT Manager (or Associate Director, depending on experience) to lead our India-based IT operations. Reporting to the Global IT Lead, this role is a critical part of our global technology team, supporting a fast-growing, US-headquartered healthcare company on a path to IPO. Based in Chennai, you will oversee a team of 3–8 IT professionals, managing day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, service delivery, and project execution in alignment with our global standards. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, fluent in English, who thrives in dynamic environments and has a passion for building reliable, secure, and scalable systems to support scientific and business innovation.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8–12+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3–5 years in leadership or management roles.
• Experience working with or reporting to global teams, especially in US-based organizations.
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure including networks, servers, endpoints, and cloud platforms including Azure, and AWS.
• Experience with ITIL processes and service management (e.g., incident, problem, and change management).
• Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, HRIS, CRM), preferably within healthcare or life sciences environments.
• Understanding of privacy and security frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, ISO 27001).
Leadership & Management
• Proven experience managing teams of 3–10+ IT professionals, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Ability to work effectively across time zones and in a global delivery model.
• Experience managing external vendors and service providers.
Project & Operational Execution
• Demonstrated ability to lead IT projects from planning to completion, including infrastructure rollouts, cloud migrations, and office expansions.
• Experience managing IT budgets, asset procurement, and vendor negotiations.
• Skilled in troubleshooting, incident response, and maintaining high levels of operational uptime.
Communication & Collaboration
• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken), with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration mindset with comfort in fast-paced, dynamic, start-up environments.
Preferred/Bonus Skills
• Prior experience in a healthcare, biotech, or pharmaceutical company.
• Professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator.
