Senior Electrical Engineer
Summary:
Alarm.com is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong technical expertise and a focus on delivering high-reliability hardware to support the design, validation, and manufacturing of embedded hardware systems. As part of a focused and experienced engineering team, you will take ownership of schematic design, component selection, and layout review, ensuring that hardware designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
In this role, you will contribute across the entire product development lifecycle—from initial prototyping through EVT/DVT/PVT stages to mass production. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support hardware bring-up, debugging, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead schematic design and component selection for camera systems.
- Review and guide PCB layout to ensure signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards (e.g., FCC, CE).
- Conduct hardware validation, including board bring-up, functional testing, and debugging.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Firmware, RF, Test, and Manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues.
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles to ensure the product is ready for mass production.
- Support factory builds (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP), including test planning, debugging, and on-site issue resolution as needed.
- Maintain detailed hardware documentation, including schematics, BoMs, and validation test reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in developing hardware for embedded systems, with a strong background in camera systems preferred.
- Proficient in schematic capture and layout review tools (e.g., OrCAD, Allegro, Altium).
- Solid understanding of power management, signal interfaces, and hardware bring-up techniques.
- Familiar with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other lab instruments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Able to communicate effectively in English in a professional engineering environment; fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
