Staff Software Engineer
EBS Sp. z o.o. is a dynamically growing Polish technology company with over 35 years of experience, specializing in the development of smart security solutions. We are part of the American corporation Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM), a leading global provider of intelligent security solutions.
You will be joining the PointCentral engineering team, a specialized unit within the Alarm.com ecosystem. PointCentral provides enterprise-class smart home management solutions for property managers. While employed by EBS in Krakow, you will work dedicatedly on PointCentral's mobile platforms, bridging the gap between our hardware solutions and our users.
Alarm.com values working together and collaborating in person. We are building a new team in Krakow. Our employees work fully from the office with the possibility to work remotely occasionally.
The Role
We are seeking a Staff Engineer to anchor our Krakow mobile team. In this role, you will be hands-on with code while also mentoring engineers and driving architectural decisions. You will focus on building robust React Native applications for Android, ensuring high performance and stability.
This is a highly collaborative role. You will work closely with:
- Product Management & QA: Based in Tysons, Virginia (EST).
- Software Engineering Team: Based in Denver, Colorado (MST).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of React Native mobile applications. You will be the primary technical voice for the Krakow team.
- Architecture & Strategy: Define the mobile architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and seamless integration with our micro-services backend.
- Native Module Integration: Build and maintain bridges between React Native and native Android layers. You won't just be writing JavaScript; you'll ensure our app interacts smoothly with the underlying Android OS.
- Mentorship: Mentor other engineers in the Krakow office, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Cross-Atlantic Collaboration: Partner with US-based stakeholders to refine requirements. You will bridge the technical gap between the server-side engineering team in Denver and the product vision in Tysons.
- Quality: Champion automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and performance optimization to ensure a crash-free experience for property managers.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s (Inżynier/Licencjat) or Master’s (Magister) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with React Native in a production environment.
- Solid background in Native Android Development (Java/Kotlin) – you should be comfortable navigating native code and debugging issues that cross the RN bridge.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading a team, mentoring junior/mid-level developers, or serving as a Lead Engineer.
- Communication: English proficiency (C1 level preferred). Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
- Availability: Willingness to accommodate flexible hours to enable synchronous collaboration with US teams (EST/MST time zones).
NICE TO HAVE
- Hardware Interest: Experience with or interest in IoT / Hardware integrations (Bluetooth Low Energy, socket connections, etc.) is a major plus.
- Willingness to learn and work on backend code when needed.
- Familiarity with micro-services architecture and RESTful APIs.
- Previous experience working in a distributed team with US-based stakeholders.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
- Collaborate with outstanding people: We have a strong focus on teamwork, and we work to create a collaborative and welcoming environment that enables our teams to excel.
- Make an immediate impact: You can expect to be given real responsibility for bringing new technologies to the marketplace. You will be empowered to perform as soon as you join the team!
- Be Empowered: We don’t want to micro-manage you. We want you to own stuff and bring your experience to make those products the best in class.
- Long-term employment based on a permanent employment contract (CoE).
- Attractive benefits package: including medical care, life insurance, sports package, annual budget for professional development ($2,000).
