Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Summary 

Alarm.com is seeking someone as a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer to apply his/her experience and technical knowhow on manufacturing quality engagement strategies from product development through sustaining operations ranging from stand-alone test stations to multi-station production lines. As part of a small, hardworking and accomplished team of experts, deep technical understanding of manufacturing processes and practical experience in quality issue investigations, QA/QC practices, and supplier quality management are essential for success. 

In this role, you will act as the key interface regarding all aspects of the quality between the product development engineering teams and our manufacturing value-added partners. You will lead the quality requirements and manufacturing processes, ensuring the manufactured products meet the design intent as well as working with various cross-functional teams jointly responsible for the overall quality program throughout the entire product lifecycle.  

Duties to be Performed 

  • Lead the overall manufacturing quality management program, including the review of processes and SIPs for IQC, IPQC, OQC and FAI, the development of processes and SIPs for GRR, OBA and ORT, and the quality validations of procedures and SOPs for SMT, DIP and FATP. 
  • Work directly with manufacturing partners, Supply Chain Management Team, and Product Development Engineering Teams to develop product specific qualify inspection, monitoring, and verification procedures and processes. 
  • Review SCARs for component suppliers and 8Ds from manufacturing partners, implement quality training programs and/or additional quality requirements based on 8Ds, and track SCARs and 8D for continuous component and manufacturing quality improvement. 
  • Coordinate with Product Managers to review RMA claims from customers, to conduct root-cause analysis with the manufacturing partners, and to drive the corrective resolutions as part of the overall improvement plan. 
  • Work with Manufacturing Test Engineers and Production Engineers to validate and to ensure the manufacturing environment and production setup across the entire production system at all manufacturing sites are established and maintained according to the same quality standards. 
  • Team up with Production Engineers and manufacturing partners to monitor on-going production quality and to continuously improve manufacturing quality including that of product assembly, test setup, and testing environment. 
  • Support Production Engineers on manufacturing process simplification, optimization and standardization to achieve stable production lines with high quality yields. 
  • Participate in strategic sourcing discussions, in component sourcing, and in manufacturing partner selections based on their component reliability and manufacturing quality. 

Basic Qualifications 

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or related engineering degrees with a track record of relevant working experience. 
  • 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing quality experience with high-volume manufacturing of consumer and commercial electronic products. 
  • Professional written, verbal, and presentation skills in English and in Chinese with the ability to effectively communicate with the stakeholders. 
  • Ability for as needed pan-Asian and US travel. 

Requirements for this Position 

  • Proven records of understanding the quality issues associated with materials, assembly and testing of consumer and commercial electronic products from the early prototype builds to the mass production builds. 
  • Established engineering capabilities in debugging production and product quality issues with effective engineering fixes for resolving/improving the issues. 
  • Established 5+ years of manufacturing quality management experience in camera related products. 
  • Experienced in all aspects of manufacturing processes including assembly and testing requirements, especially those for camera products, wireless communications products and gateway/bridge products. 
  • General understanding of the potential manufacturing quality issues associated with the design of assembly jigs and testing fixtures for consumer and commercial electronic products. 
  • Skilled in various application software such as Excel and PowerPoint for effective communication on subject matters with various stakeholders. 
  • Proficient in ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 requirements.
