Software Engineer II (ArcGIS)

As one of the fastest growing software companies in the country, AlertMedia is looking for an experienced full-stack Software Engineer II to focus on the mapping features of our product using ArcGIS. This role is an opportunity to use a wide variety of design and technical web skills to help us manage day-to-day requests as well as leverage your experience and expertise to build highly-scalable, web-based maps supporting large geospatial datasets. Strong creative and technical abilities are vital for success in this role, with the ideal candidate being an independent problem solver and critical thinker. You must have a passion for innovative software development and willingness to roll up your sleeves to collaborate with all teams. Who you are:
You thrive in a collaborative engineering environment that plays to everyone's strengths with a willingness to work across the entire stack. You love all things related to mapping and visualizing large-scale geospatial data. Ideally, you have ArcGIS experience as well as Google Maps or similar. You’ve worked through the full end-to-end process of turning geospatial data into useful, usable, performant web-based maps.

- Become an expert in the AlertMedia platform and tools, and its uses for our customers
- Work with ArcGIS, Redis and Postgres to deliver world-class map experience
- Work with a stack that includes Python, Django, Next.js, React, Node and other web technologies
- Design and develop a highly scalable infrastructure that handles millions of users
- Work in an Agile based environment using tools like Git, JIRA, Jenkins, and Slack.
- Contribute to the technology lead that AlertMedia has over other solutions through innovative development and by helping contribute innovative ideas related to leveraging technology in our product line
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills in collaboration with other engineering and product teams
- Contribute to AlertMedia’s culture, values, and vision for the future
What you bring to the role:
- 4-6 years of experience building scalable applications with modern frameworks, such as Python, Javascript, React, Django, and Node
- 6+ years in a SaaS environment using Linux
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with ArcGIS required
- Familiarity with AWS (Amazon Web Services)
- Postgres & Redis development experience ideal
- Experience working in an Agile based environment using tools like Git, JIRA, Jenkins, and Slack
- Willing to pair up with junior developers to mentor and share your experience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage working on multiple projects in parallel
- The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced challenging environment
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to effectively work cross-functionally in a fast-paced challenging environment
- Google Maps experience is a plus
- English proficiency (written and oral) is required
- This is a hybrid position (2 days a week) in the Reforma area of Mexico City, where you’ll get to collaborate with our amazing engineering team
