AlertMedia is seeking a Director, Solutions Engineering to partner closely with our sales organization and play a critical role in helping prospective customers to understand the value of our platform. This is a hands-on, player/coach role — ideal for a seasoned Solutions Engineering leader who enjoys being deeply involved in the sales process while also building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing Solutions Engineering team over time. 

Who you are: 

You are an experienced Solutions Engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of sales strategy, technical depth, and people leadership. You’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves to lead high-stakes demos and solve complex technical challenges, while also coaching our Solutions Engineers to elevate their impact. 

You bring a strong “one team, one goal” mindset, enjoy working cross-functionally, and know how to translate technical capabilities into meaningful business outcomes for customers and prospects alike. 

What you get to do every day: 

  • Balance team development and hands-on technical contribution, spending your time mentoring and leading Solutions Engineers and directly supporting strategic deals 
  • Lead by example, setting the bar for technical excellence, consultative selling, and customer advocacy 
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of Solutions Engineers through regular 1:1s, career development planning, performance feedback, and coaching on both technical and sales skills 
  • Enablement & Certification: Define and execute a regional technical strategy, ensuring the team is enabled, certified, and equipped to lead value-based technical conversations across the AlertMedia platform 
  • Pipeline Health & Sales Partnership: Partner with Sales leadership in forecast and pipeline reviews to ensure technical readiness and alignment for active and upcoming deals 
  • Operational Excellence: Standardize and continuously improve Solutions Engineering best practices, demo flows, discovery approaches, and proof-of-concept (PoC) frameworks 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to surface insights from the field and influence platform evolution 
  • Strategic Deal Leadership: Lead technical discovery, solution design, and demonstrations for high-value or complex accounts, serving as the technical voice and trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle 
  • Solution Prototyping & Problem Solving: Develop prototypes, technical spikes, or custom integrations to unblock complex deals or inform future product direction 
  • Executive-Level Engagement: Facilitate technical discussions with CIOs, CTOs, and senior stakeholders, translating platform capabilities into clear business value and outcomes 
  • Customer Advocacy: Serve as a strong bridge between customers, Sales, and Product, advocating for customer needs and influencing the product roadmap based on real-world use cases 

What you bring to the role: 

  • 8–10+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales Engineering, or Solutions Architecture in a SaaS organization  
  • 2–3+ years in a people leadership role 
  • Proven success in high-growth SaaS environments, with experience supporting API-driven integrations and cloud infrastructure 
  • Strong understanding of sales methodologies such as MEDDICC, and experience partnering closely with Account Executives 
  • A true player-coach mindset — able to move seamlessly from high-level strategy and coaching to hands-on troubleshooting and technical execution 
  • Passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience through thoughtful, consultative problem-solving 
  • Excellent prioritization, project management, and organizational skills in fast-paced, evolving environments 
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Strong coaching mentality and ability to help elevate others in their career development   
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; clear and concise written and oral communication skills    
  • Skilled at building rapport and setting expectations with stakeholders, including those at the executive level    
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; ideal candidates have experience adapting in rapidly changing environments and contributing to an evolving sales process    
  • This role has a strong preference for candidates based in Austin, TX or the surrounding area, but we may be open to remote candidates within the United States
