Do work that matters.

At AlertMedia, we help organizations protect their people, operations, and brand. Our modern Risk Intelligence and Response platform empowers teams to detect emerging threats, assess impact, and respond with confidence. We believe building resilience should be simpler—and it starts with bringing critical information and workflows together in one unified platform.

Our core values drive us in our important mission of keeping people safe & informed:

  • We’re humans not robots
  • Customers always come first
  • We work better together
  • Simplicity is our strength
  • Our reputation is priceless Hard work pays off

AlertMedia is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join the Finance & Accounting team.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this individual contributor role serves as the technical accounting expert for revenue recognition and the primary accounting partner to Sales, Deal Desk, RevOps, Legal, Billing Operations, and Finance.

You will own the monthly revenue close process, ASC 606 technical accounting, NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM), deferred revenue accounting, SSP methodology, and revenue-related financial reporting. You will partner closely with Deal Desk and Sales before contracts are finalized, helping structure customer agreements that achieve both commercial objectives and clean, scalable accounting outcomes.

This role complements our Billing Operations team by owning the accounting behind the revenue cycle while Billing Operations owns execution, customer billing, and collections.

Success in this role will be measured by accurate and timely revenue reporting, audit readiness, scalable revenue accounting processes, and the ability to proactively partner with the business to solve complex commercial and accounting challenges.

Who You Are:

You are a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys working at the intersection of accounting and the business.

You are equally comfortable researching ASC 606 guidance, reviewing complex customer contracts, performing detailed revenue analysis, and partnering with Deal Desk, Sales, and Legal to help structure scalable commercial agreements.

You are analytical, detail-oriented, and naturally curious. Rather than simply identifying accounting issues, you work collaboratively to find practical solutions that support both the customer and the business while maintaining compliance.

You enjoy improving processes, reducing manual work, and leveraging technology to build scalable revenue accounting operations.

What you get to do every day:

Technical Revenue Accounting & ASC 606

  • Own the accounting analysis for customer contracts, contract modifications, renewals, expansions, and terminations in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Research complex accounting issues and prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting revenue recognition conclusions.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Standalone Selling Price (SSP) methodologies.
  • Partner with external auditors on all revenue-related technical accounting matters.

Revenue Close & Financial Reporting

  • Own the monthly revenue close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Own deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM).
  • Perform detailed MRR, ARR, deferred revenue, and revenue trend analysis.
  • Investigate revenue fluctuations and provide meaningful business insights to Finance leadership.

Commercial Partnership

  • Partner closely with Deal Desk, Sales, RevOps, and Legal before contracts are finalized.
  • Evaluate proposed deal structures and proactively identify revenue recognition implications.
  • Recommend alternative contract structures that support both commercial objectives and compliant, scalable revenue recognition.
  • Help the business understand revenue accounting implications before deals are executed—not after.

Audit, Controls & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary Accounting contact for revenue-related audit requests.
  • Maintain and enhance revenue accounting policies, documentation, and internal controls.
  • Ensure revenue accounting remains compliant as products, pricing, and commercial models evolve.

Continuous Improvement

  • Partner closely with Billing Operations and the Financial Systems Manager to ensure revenue accounting processes remain scalable, automated, and well controlled.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify revenue accounting workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Support enhancements to NetSuite ARM and related revenue systems.
  • Leverage AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and other emerging technologies to improve analysis, documentation, and operational efficiency.

What you bring to the role :

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of experience in revenue accounting within a SaaS or subscription-based business.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606.
  • Experience reviewing customer contracts and interpreting revenue recognition implications.
  • Experience owning monthly revenue close responsibilities, including deferred revenue reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently research accounting guidance and communicate conclusions clearly.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

Strongly Preferred

  • CPA or public accounting experience.
  • NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) experience or comparable ERP revenue management experience.
  • Experience with subscription and usage-based revenue models.
  • Experience partnering with Deal Desk, Sales, RevOps, and Legal.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Zone Billing, or similar revenue management platforms.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
