Position Overview
Align offers a wide variety of services centered around the data center white space. We are a white space fit-out general contractor who manages the end-to-end build of data centers across the country. Our services include designing layouts, overhead support systems for structured cabling, conduit and pathway design, cabinet layouts, and low-voltage cabling infrastructure (copper and fiber).
As a Data Center Cabling Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of structured cabling and white space fit-outs in hyperscale / AI environments. This role requires deep knowledge of low-voltage cabling and fiber systems related to AI Data Center Fit Out, including the ability to design structured cabling and support systems, establish cabling standards, select and manage vendors, oversee installations, and perform quality control. You will be onsite daily, interacting with subcontractors while directly managing schedule, quality, and execution in the field.

- This position is based in the Spartanburg, SC area and will work onsite for local data center projects, with occasional travel to Charlotte, NC and other locations as needed.
Responsibilities
The Data Center Cabling Project Manager will be responsible for project management and oversight of structured cabling and white space build-out activities as they relate to new builds or capital projects. Core responsibilities include ownership of project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
Typical daily tasks include:
- Designing and implementing structured cabling and support systems for data center white space.
- Establishing standards and specifications for low-voltage cabling (fiber and copper) across projects.
- Creating and managing complex cabling spreadsheets for pull, patching, and trunk schedules
- Help with the selection, management, and evaluation of cabling vendors and contractors, including issuing RFPs, bidding, and contract management, as needed.
- Overseeing and QC’ing vendor installations to ensure compliance with drawings, standards, and customer expectations.
- Monitoring project progress and schedules; communicating changes and managing client expectations.
- Managing documentation, including submittal reviews, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
- Troubleshooting and performing root-cause failure analysis associated with cabling or installation issues.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structured cabling/low-voltage / fiber optic systems for AI, high-performance computing (HPC), or hyperscale data centers.
- Advanced experience managing large-scale cabling projects, including AI data center cabling:
- Strong low-voltage cabling (LVC) and fiber experience in an AI / hyperscale data center environment (Spine and Leaf Topology, InfiniBand or other high-performance, low-latency interconnect standards designed for AI workloads)
- Hands-on ability to design and oversee cabling infrastructure including pathways, racks, and containment systems.
- Ability to read and interpret cabling design drawings and specifications.
- Adept at cabling labelling standards
- Advanced Excel skills and in-depth experience creating and managing complex cabling spreadsheets for pull, patching, and trunk schedules
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a live data center overseeing Day 2 Support and MAC work.
- Strong troubleshooting experience with OLTS, OTDR, VFL and other industry best practices.
- Value engineering mindset with a track record of cost and time reduction through innovative solutions.
- Familiarity with distribution channels and major manufactures – knows how to deal with owner’s reps.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety standards, and industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI).
- Able to be on site regularly in the Spartanburg, SC Data Center and able to travel as needed (approximately 50% at times).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree preferred
- TIA, BICSI or RCDD certification.
- Vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking)
