Finance Intern
Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotech company focused on the development of innovative therapies to treat serious diseases of the eye with high unmet need. Based in Cambridge, Mass., Alkeus was founded in 2010, and since that time has been developing its lead compound, gildeuretinol acetate (ALK-001). Designated as a breakthrough therapy and granted orphan drug status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, gildeuretinol is being evaluated in multiple clinical trials for the treatment of Stargardt disease and geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of blindness in the U.S.
Position Summary:
The Finance Intern will support the Finance team in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting. You’ll gain hands-on experience with real financial data and play a key role in helping the company make informed business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports and variance analyses
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes across departments
- Collect, organize, and analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Build and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with various teams to gather insights and validate assumptions
- Present findings and recommendations to finance leadership
- Support ad hoc projects, including cost optimization initiatives
- Deliver on other related projects as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education and Certification
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling is a plus
- Familiarity with financial statements and key performance metrics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
