General

This individual will lead the Product Planning team as we continue to drive omni-channel growth through new product introduction & inventory investment. This includes managing a team of planners who oversee and optimize our demand plans as well as inventory throughout the entire supply chain. This includes pre-season forecasting, developing revenue and inventory forecasts, purchase order placement, factory management, and working with cross functional teams to deliver in-season targets (pricing management, gross margin management, etc…).  

This person will need to be a highly analytical individual, comfortable with leading from strategy to execution and be inherently comfortable dealing with large data sets in order to quickly inform decisions that impact our top and bottom line. Additionally, this individual should possess excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaborations skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to take on a leadership role at the intersection of planning and operations.

What does the job entail? 

  • Lead the Product Planning team and evolve processes to meet the needs of a complex business. This includes all demand plans for our North America Business (ecom, Amazon, and brick & mortar) as well as global supply planning.
  • Frequently present to the executive leadership team. This includes weekly business reviews and monthly business reviews.
  • Responsible for the monthly re-forecasting and open to buy (OTB) processes to ensure product flow will meet sales and margin objectives. 
  • Manage all aspects of US inventory management throughout the entire supply chain, including production forecasting to ensure product plans account for constraints such as capacity and MOQs at each factory.
  • Collaborate with factories in Asia and our Vietnam-based Allbirds team to resolve production related issues.
  • Work with Merchandising and channel leads (ECOM + B&M) to ensure inventory investment is aligned with seasonal product and marketing strategies.  
  • Partner with warehousing and logistics to ensure production forecasts and unit sales plans are accounted for correctly throughout the supply chain
  • Lead and mentor a team of product planners
  • Manage launch plans for new products and promotional campaigns.
  • Lead weekly cross-functional sales, inventory and operations meetings.
  • Establish reporting tools to consistently monitor and report out on new products readiness, post-launch performance and inventory service levels.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent, with quantitative focus
  • 7+ years of prior inventory planning, merchandise planning or supply/demand planning experience, preferably in the apparel or footwear industry.
  • 4+ year of managerial experience
  • Strong ability to build relationships and partner with key stakeholders across the business, including executive leadership
  • Organized and able to multi-task and perform in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter and enjoy a ‘blank canvas’ and building processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to both think strategically and execute tactically, a persistent attention to detail, and a high level of comfort in working with numbers.
  • Excellent communicator and have the ability to quickly grasp new concepts while asking appropriate questions when information or instruction is not entirely clear.
  • Comfortable with presenting to an executive level audience.
  • Strong coach and able to mentor junior team members 
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills 
  • Experience using Looker & Google Sheets a plus
  • Deep analytical mindset, and problem-solving acumen
  • Experience in product planning, inventory management and/or supply chain operations a must
  • Knowledge of ERP systems / SAP a plus + additional planning tools (Anaplan)

What do we offer?

Remote eligible with preference for PST working hours.   You must live in one of the following states:   Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and must have the ability to travel to SF no more than 1-2x per quarter for key meetings.

The pay range for this role is: $142k - $155k.  Relocation is not available for this position.

Allbirds routinely evaluates pay rates, and the ranges are subject to change based on market rates and other considerations.  We factor in a number of components when determining starting pay, including the job and level you are hired into, location, skillset, experience and peer compensation.

Work Environment

Work takes place in an office setting. This job may require working more than 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours a week. It requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, and carry up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 30 lbs occasionally.
