Audio / Visual Technician

Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is currently seeking an Audio/Visual Technician to support telecommunications initiatives for an FBI customer. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of A/V room systems in secure enterprise environments. An active Top Secret clearance is required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Travel to various locations to install and troubleshoot A/V systems
- Provide Tier 3/4 support for A/V device installation and troubleshooting across all enterprise enclaves
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain A/V room systems; provide break/fix support as needed
- Troubleshoot PC-related issues, including audio and video connectivity
- Coordinate and schedule activities with the Audio Video Support Center (AVSC)
Clearance Requirements:
- Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance: Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance and be eligible for access to classified networks such as SIPRNet and JWICS
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or technical diploma in Information Technology, Audio Engineering, or related field OR High School Diploma and 4+ years of direct A/V experience in a cleared setting
- 3–6 years of relevant A/V systems experience in federal or enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to:
- Set up, test, operate, and troubleshoot A/V and VTC equipment (Cisco, Poly, Crestron, Extron)
- Support secure VTC operations across NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and JWICS
- Assist with integration of conferencing tools (Microsoft Teams, ZoomGov, Webex)
- Perform routine maintenance and Tier I/II troubleshooting
Preferred Certifications:
While not always required, these enhance competitiveness and demonstrate technical competency:
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) – AVIXA
- Extron Control Professional or AV Associate
- Crestron DM-NVX or Certified Programmer
- Biamp Tesira Certification
- Dante Level 1 or Level 2
- CompTIA Security+ – if supporting networks or integration in classified environments
Functional Skills:
- Familiarity with AVSC scheduling systems, classified room requirements, and help desk ticketing
- Basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DHCP for VoIP/VTC endpoints)
- Professional communication skills to support executives, secure briefings, or mission-critical events
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is $84,989 - $106,267.
