Team Overview

As Legal Counsel, Blackstone Strategic Engagement, you will report to ADF’s Senior Counsel, Vice President of Blackstone Strategic Engagement. This position primarily develops, organizes, and executes efforts to secure the participation of Blackstone Fellows in the strategic advocacy work of ADF and Fellowship-related affinity-building activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate strategic engagement among Blackstone Fellows by coordinating referrals and collaboration on mission-aligned legal projects, including research, amicus briefs, moot courts, scholarly writing, and counsel opportunities.
  • Actively promote and support Fellow participation in ADF’s legal and public advocacy efforts, as well as broader initiatives influencing law and culture.
  • Track, organize, and report on Fellow involvement and impact through data, metrics, and narrative stories that highlight engagement across ADF and related platforms.
  • Develop and distribute content to Fellows that informs and encourages involvement in Fellowship projects, ADF initiatives, and other legal or advocacy-related opportunities.
  • Represent ADF at regional events, reunions, and training programs—including the annual Blackstone Legal Fellowship—as a staff and faculty member, while supporting special projects for the Strategic Engagement and Fellowship teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D.; active license in at least one US state bar and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction within one year.
  • Law-related research, writing, analysis, and similar projects.
  • Strong computer skills including with respect to Microsoft Office, Outlook, and customer relationship management program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some amount of legal experience as a judicial clerk and/or attorney
  • Blackstone Fellow
