Team Overview
As the Director of Audio Visual, you are a vital part of the ADF team. You will report to the Senior Director of Events and AV Services and are responsible for overseeing all aspects of AV production, leading two key divisions: Video Production and Live Production. This leadership position involves strategically planning and executing a wide range of live and recorded events, including conferences, webinars, fundraisers, dinners, video shoots, promotional content, internal communications, podcasts, media appearances, and film studio operations. The Director of Audio Visual is charged with ensuring seamless operations, improving efficiency, and fostering a healthy, collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for AV production that aligns with the ministry’s goals and objectives.
- Build, lead, coach and mentor a team of AV professionals. Fostering a healthy work environment – built around servant leadership, trust, transparency, empathy, and collaboration among team members.
- Support team development by identifying training opportunities, process improvements, performance reviews, coaching, etc.
- Strategic Planning. Coordinate schedules, workloads, budgets and capacity planning to avoid bottlenecks and maximize productivity.
- Oversee all AV production for internal and external projects (live events, webinars, fundraisers, media engagements, video shoots, promotional content, internal communications, etc.), ensuring deliverables meet expectations, standards, and brand consistency.
- Ensure all AV and production systems function smoothly, including sound, lighting, video, streaming, and post-production.
- Troubleshoot operational and technical challenges. Propose solutions to improve overall effectiveness.
- Manage Team budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Committed to good stewardship of ministry funds.
- Develop, maintain, and expand contractor/vendor relations. Work closely with external vendors and contractors on key projects; communicating expectations, goals, and vision, on a high level.
- Provide Senior Director with regular updates, on team performance, challenges, successes and opportunities.
- Attend all meetings with proper conduct and the understanding that you represent the overall AV Team and Ministry.
- Drive innovation. Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance the ministry’s media impact.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, Film/TV/Video/Broadcast Production, similar academic field, or equivalent years of experience.
- 10+ years of experience in video and live production, as well as proven experience managing a team.
- Strategic planning skills. Experience coordinating schedules, workloads, budgets and capacity planning to avoid bottlenecks and maximize productivity.
- Leadership skills and autonomous decision making. Track record for fostering healthy work environments, building trust, transparency and collaboration.
- Multi-tasking capabilities - managing multiple projects across internal teams as well as external partners.
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to present highly technical information, project goals and objectives.
- Experience and knowledge of live production software and hardware (BlackMagic, Sony, Panasonic, Chauvet, Allen&Heath, Shure, QSC, ProPresenter, etc.).
- Experience and knowledge of video production software and hardware (Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, Audition, Vimeo, FrameIO, Sony, Panasonic, Aputure Lights, Camera LUTs, etc.).
- Experience and knowledge of webinar platforms, streaming protocols, and networking (IP Protocols, On24, Zoom, Riverside, YouTube, FB, X, etc.).
- Experience and knowledge of project management software (Trello, Wrike, etc.).
- Skilled in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to be hands on and produce/manage events when needed.
- Must be able to travel (20%)
