Senior Internal Communications Strategist

Location: Lansdowne, VA

Team Overview:

In this role you will report to the VP of Communications and Public Relations. You will lead the development and implementation of strategic internal communication plans across the organization. This role combines strategic planning, relationship-building, and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Communications & Executive Messaging: Lead internal communication efforts for your assigned stakeholder groups, including HR, IT, CEO, and Executive Leadership messages, internal announcements, and team-wide updates that build clarity and engagement.
  • Internal Channels & Events: Manage internal communication channels (email, intranet, and Teams) and coordinate internal communication events or CEO-led gatherings to ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging across the organization.
  • Integrated Campaign Development: Lead the creation and execution of multi-channel communication plans, ensuring the designated audiences are well informed through the appropriate communication medium.
  • Content Development: Draft, edit, and oversee high-quality communication materials tailored to target audiences and platforms, including collaborating with Creative Services on graphics and video creation for communication initiatives, ensuring all communications reflect ADF’s tone, voice, and visual identity.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies and campaigns that strengthen ADF’s internal messaging, enhance organizational alignment and employee engagement.
  • Partnership & Collaboration: Serve as the primary communications partner for assigned teams, building trusted relationships and providing strategic counsel on messaging and engagement.
  • Performance and Engagement Measurement: Track and evaluate communication initiatives, using data and metrics to measure effectiveness and inform future strategies.
  • Project Leadership: Manage timelines, deliverables, and resources for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring initiatives are completed on time and on budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience with communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • Ability to design and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create high-quality content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted partnerships with stakeholders and influence decision making at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • A high sense of professionalism with excellent problem-solving abilities, initiative, and composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • We believe God designed marriage as a unique conjugal relationship joining one man and one woman in a single, exclusive, life-long union, and God intends sexual intimacy only to occur within that relationship.
  • We believe God endows all human life with inherent dignity, and it must be respected and protected from conception to natural death.
  • We believe that God has endowed all humans with the natural, and inalienable right of religious freedom to believe, pursue truth, and live within ordered liberty such that no civil government may justly infringe upon it.
  • We believe that God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, calls all of us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him, knowing that He promises us abundant and eternal life.
