Team Overview
In this role, you will report to the Accounting Manager and support the organization’s financial operations by managing daily accounting tasks, general ledger entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, accounts payable processing, and compliance activities. This role provides an excellent opportunity to grow your accounting career in a mission-driven organization, contributing to excellence in stewardship, accountability, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist in maintaining an accurate and organized chart of accounts.
- Assist with revenue accounting, disbursements, accruals, and initiative-based transactions.
- Track and maintain fixed asset records, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals, in accordance with accounting policies.
- Assist with annual audit preparation and IRS Form 990 documentation.
- Support efforts to ensure alignment with ECFA standards and other financial compliance initiatives.
- Assist with accounts payable functions, such as processing vendor invoices, team member reimbursements, preparing checks and electronic payments, etc.
- Support the Corporate Credit Card Program, including issuance and reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy and document compliance in alignment with internal policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger systems, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial team members.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Concur, Sage Intacct, or other enterprise-level accounting software.
- Experience in a nonprofit.
- CPA track or certification is a plus, but not required.
