The Role

Allied Maker is seeking a Junior Interior Designer to support the development of our new headquarters, showrooms, and other interior projects. This position is ideal for an early-career designer who takes genuine pride in producing accurate, organized, and beautifully resolved work. Strong design instincts are important, but precision is essential. We need someone who works cleanly, follows direction carefully, and translates creative concepts into drawings, schedules, specifications, presentations, and project information that are complete and dependable. The right person will be thoughtful, highly organized, receptive to critique, and attentive to the details that allow ambitious design work to be executed successfully.
Responsibilities

  • Develop plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, millwork drawings, and interior details
  • Translate sketches, markups, and verbal design direction into clear, accurate drawing sets
  • Revise drawings thoroughly and incorporate all review comments
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, clearances, materials, and specifications across project documents
  • Prepare finish schedules, furniture schedules, fixture schedules, specification sheets, and presentation materials
  • Assist with material, furniture, plumbing, lighting, hardware, and finish research
  • Request and organize samples, pricing, lead times, and technical information
  • Maintain orderly drawing files, project folders, sample libraries, and documentation
  • Coordinate information among the internal design team, vendors, consultants, fabricators, and contractors
  • Review shop drawings and submittals under the direction of senior team members
  • Assist with site measurements, field documentation, installations, and project follow-through
  • Identify missing, conflicting, or incomplete information before it becomes a problem
  • Support the Design Director in moving projects from concept through execution

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
  • Approximately 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong AutoCAD skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with SketchUp, Enscape, Revit, or similar visualization software is a plus
  • Working knowledge of interior construction, materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes
  • Ability to read and produce professional drawing sets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and maintain accuracy under deadlines
  • Willingness to work on-site and participate in field visits as required

What We Are Looking For

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Clean, consistent, and legible drawing practices
  • Strong organizational habits
  • Careful follow-through
  • The discipline to check work before submitting it
  • The ability to understand and preserve design intent
  • Comfort receiving direct feedback and revising work
  • Curiosity about materials, fabrication, and construction
  • A calm, responsible, low-ego approach
  • Good judgment about when to proceed independently and when to ask a question
  • A genuine desire to become excellent at the craft

This is not a role for someone interested only in concepts or visual inspiration. It is for a designer who understands that excellent interiors depend on hundreds of decisions being documented, coordinated, and executed correctly.
