Senior Director of Business Intelligence and Data Engineering
Alma is seeking an experienced leader who has a track record of building and driving strategy for Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Data Infrastructure. You will lead these multidisciplinary data teams, growing them to fulfill the increasing needs of Alma’s expanding business. You will partner with business leaders from every department to design data tools and programs that help them drive strategy and day-to-day tactics.
This role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer and will be the foremost expert in their field at Alma. It is an exciting time to join – our data teams already have a great foundation, but are gearing up for their next phase of maturity as we solidify our data platform and service model to the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Own the long-term strategy for the data platforms (data warehouse, AI/ML infrastructure, BI and analytics tools, and data service/governance model) as well as the strategy for the data teams that build and support them.
- Build a self-serve analytics environment, democratizing access to the power of our data.
- Build scalable and reliable data pipelines and dashboards for company reporting.
- Design and scale our data infrastructure to enable model training, testing, deployment, and operations for predictive analytics, automation, and more.
- Get buy-in for long-term investments from our most senior stakeholders, driving every stage of planning and delivery from ideation to execution and adoption throughout Alma.
- Work closely with department leaders across Alma to understand their business objectives and needs and use analytics to help them uplevel their organizations.
- Motivate, coach, and supervise a multi-disciplinary team of data professionals to reach their goals and achieve deliverables.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams to build a stable data platform that cohesively integrates with the rest of our technical systems.
- Supports our Data Science team as they productionize machine learning models.
- Scale the Data Warehouse and Data Engineering practices using industry standards.
Who you are:
- You have 7-10 years of experience in the data analytics or engineering space.
- You have 5+ years of people management experience, managing both individuals and other managers across data disciplines.
- You have a track record of building out data teams, platforms, tools, analytics programs, and governance models.
- Experience with HIPAA or operating in highly regulated industries.
- You have a deep technical and analytical/statistical background that allows you to lead the way for Alma in this space – including experience with SQL, dbt, and analytical tools like Jupyter notebooks.
- You have experience overseeing AI/ML platforms and familiarity with effective ML operational practices.
- You are a strong business partner, who seeks to understand how different departments work, their needs and is adept at creating collaborative relationships.
- You understand different operational models and data workflows, using the ones that best align your teams to provide value for a diverse set of stakeholders.
- You feel a passion for Alma's mission – to improve the experience of therapy for providers and their clients and simplify access to care.

Salary Band: $247,500 - $304,200
