We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join Alma and lead a group of high performing product engineers working on some of our most strategic and complex initiatives. This role will oversee engineering efforts across compliance, value based care, and AI powered products, supporting critical capabilities that drive quality, safety, and innovation across the platform.

You will lead teams responsible for building systems that ensure Alma meets evolving regulatory and clinical requirements, enables value based care models, and delivers intelligent, AI driven tools that improve experiences for both providers and clients. This is a highly cross functional role where engineering plays a central part in shaping product direction, operational excellence, and long term technical architecture.

On this scaling set of teams, you will have a strong hand in defining Alma’s features, services, and architecture, helping the organization deliver trustworthy, high quality care while responsibly advancing our use of AI.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead multiple engineering teams, owning delivery, technical direction, effectiveness, and overall performance.
  • Be accountable for performance management outcomes across teams, ensuring consistent feedback, clear expectations, and strong manager and IC development.
  • Drive technical and operational strategy across squads, optimizing for system level outcomes rather than individual team success.
  • Partner with product, design, and other stakeholders to define cross team goals, roadmaps, sequencing, and measures of success.
  • Coach Engineering Managers and ICs, holding them accountable for results and people leadership.
  • Create clarity in ambiguous environments and stabilize or improve teams facing delivery, technical, or organizational challenges.
  • Lead complex, cross team initiatives with strong planning around capacity, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
  • Establish and track metrics to measure progress, using data to inform decisions and continuously improve team effectiveness.
  • Maintain high standards for technical quality and reliability, ensuring cohesion of technical direction across teams.
  • Engage in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring, and on-boarding engineering talent to help grow the team and broader engineering organization.

Who you are:

  • You have 8+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years of people management experience including experience leading multiple teams or managing managers.
  • You have a track record of coaching managers or senior ICs, with strong performance management and consistent, direct feedback practices.
  • You have experience leading distributed teams, including managing offshore engineers and contractors, and are effective at driving alignment, accountability, and quality across time zones and working models.
  • You think in systems and naturally drive alignment and leverage across teams.
  • You are effective in ambiguous, fast changing environments and can create structure where little exists.
  • You bring strong technical judgment and credibility, shaping architectural direction while enabling teams to own implementation.
  • You have solid product and business fluency and communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You have a demonstrable history of shipping user-facing products.
  • You feel a passion for Alma's mission – to improve the experience of therapy for providers and their clients, and simplify access to care.

  • We’re a remote-first company
  • Health insurance plans through Aetna (medical and dental) and MetLife (vision), including FSA and HSA plans
  • 401K plan (ADP)
