Overview

The Associate Director of Marketing, KOL Engagement and Enablement is responsible for leading strategic initiatives that enhance Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement, Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) effectiveness, and the optimization of actionable insights across the organization. This role serves as a strategic partner to TLLs, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Global, Legal, Compliance, and field leadership to advance engagement strategies, educational initiatives, advisory boards, and external stakeholder partnerships. The Associate Director will lead the development of scalable programs, resources, and processes that strengthen organizational effectiveness, support field execution, and ensure insights are effectively translated into business action. This role reports to the Director of Marketing, KOL Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Team Education & Engagement: Develop and execute KOL-led education and training initiatives that enhance field team clinical expertise, scientific engagement capabilities, and understanding of key disease state and brand messages.
  • Thought Leader Liaison Resources: Lead the strategy, development, implementation, and optimization of resources, tools, and engagement approaches that enhance TLL effectiveness and support meaningful KOL interactions.
  • Thought Leader Liaison Insights: Support the end-to-end KOL insights process, including strategic objective development, partner on field training, insight collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination of actionable insights across the organization.
  • Thought Leader Liaison Operations: Ensure TLL targets, KOL data, activities, insights, and records across Veeva and other systems are accurate, optimized, and compliant; proactively flag issues, support reporting, and drive operational process improvements.
  • Commercial Advisory Boards: Execute the U.S. TTR Commercial Advisory Boards to inform business decisions and strengthen engagement with external experts.
  • Performance Measurement & Optimization: Establish and monitor metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of KOL engagement activities, educational initiatives, TLL resources, and insight generation programs while driving continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, and field leadership to align educational, engagement, and insight initiatives with organizational priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor & Agency Management: Provide oversight of external agencies, vendors, and strategic partners supporting educational initiatives, content development, advisory boards, and engagement programs.
  • Therapeutic Area Expertise: Maintain deep understanding of the therapeutic area, healthcare professional educational needs, competitive landscape, and industry best practices to inform engagement and education strategies.
  • Strategic Innovation & Excellence: Identify and implement innovative approaches that strengthen KOL engagement, advance TLL capabilities, and increase organizational impact.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree in life sciences or marketing preferred.  
  • Experience building and leading ad boards, the TLL organization, and KOL strategy. 
  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech marketing, healthcare consulting, or healthcare agency with a focus on HCP engagement, medical education, or peer-to-peer strategy preferred.  
  • Ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment by managing competing and complex priorities and engaging with cross-functional partners to ensure goals are met efficiently and collaboratively. 
  • Demonstrate a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality across all deliverables, communications, and project components. 
  • Deep understanding of compliance requirements and experience in highly regulated environments.

The pay range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).

$161,500 - $218,500 USD
