OVERIEW
As the Director of International Retail Operations, you will be at the forefront of Alo’s international expansion - overseeing planning and coordination of new country enablement and manage the daily operation of Alo-owned stores outside of North America. This role will be build this new function, establishing our international structure for managing operations, and recruiting and building a high performing team of regionally-based operations leaders to drive the highest level of operational business outcomes.
This role will partner closely with our Director of Retail Operations for North America to align daily operational planning and execution with an international context, ensuring that we effectively manage local and regional nuances.
A successful leader operates with an entrepreneurial approach rolling up their sleeves and getting into the details of our retail operation but can also operate at a higher strategic level ensuring that retail projects deliver on expected business outcomes. This leader comes to Alo with experience operating in a global context across multiple cultures, as well as leadership experience in a headquarter-based retail operations function. Leveraging these skills, this leader will build strong relationships with regional and district leaders and will build and develop a high performing Retail Operations team.
RESPONSIBILTIES
New Country Enablement & Store Openings
- Oversee company-wide New Country Enablement program. Define cross-functional critical path and detailed project plans to establish operations and open stores in new countries.
- Facilitate cross-functional corporate workstreams to drive alignment and timely execution of key operational enablers.
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve barriers and risks to operation leading up to and after a new country has opened.
- Manage and execute detailed assessments, planning, and projects specific to enabling store operations in each new country, including adaptation of operating models, new vendor relationships, and development of required launch materials.
- Support and maximize success of international new store openings.
Retail Communications, Support & Admin
- Partner with North America Communications & Support team to maintain an aligned but localized retail calendar for all the regions in which we operate, ensuring that initiative launches and workload/tasks are sequenced to maximize retail success.
- Oversee development and execution of Alo’s international communication strategy, including translation and localization of all cross-functional content to support new country launches and daily communications. Ensure that content represents Alo’s culture, voice, and drive a high level of engagement and execution.
- Maintain Alo’s international resource library repository, ensuring that all required policies and procedures are created, translated, and accurate at all times.
- Ensure the highest level of thoughtfulness, quality, polish, and accuracy of communication deliverables and supporting assets.
- Develop integrated launch and change management plans for key campaigns and initiatives, partnering across all retail and cross functional teams to maximize launch effectiveness.
- Partner with retail leadership to drive associate engagement through activities, meetings, and performance driving contests.
- Establish and oversee a closed loop feedback process, collecting feedback from store teams through surveying and store visits and circling back to share findings, insights, and actionable next steps to address feedback.
- Oversee store support, playing an “air traffic control” role in monitoring support/ticketing themes, working with partners to drive high level of SLA compliance and store support, and identifying and coordinating efforts to solve root cause of tickets through retail projects and initiatives.
- Oversee and ensure cross-functional and leadership alignment of content for regular field meeting series including regular store manager and district manager meetings.
- Plan major virtual and in-person meetings and conferences and support planning of global conferences that involve international teams.
Store Operations
- Partner with HQ and Field Leadership to drive the highest levels of consistent operational execution across key operational performance indicators, including Inventory Accuracy, Shrink, Replenishment, and Omni Short Ship Rates.
- Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement of policies and procedures for operational process execution to extraordinary levels of efficiency.
- Through field feedback and store visits, identify opportunities for process improvement activities that drive efficiency and effectiveness of operational execution.
- Partner with other retail teams to identify, prioritize, plan, and rollout major operational, omni, and technology improvement projects.
- Partner closely with Merchandising and Planning & Allocation teams to flag exceptions and ensure stores are assorted and kept in-stock to deliver against sales and operational expectations.
- Partner with Logistics team to drive highest levels of shipment service, piloting new and innovative approaches to keep stores in stock while optimizing weeks of supply.
- Support in development and rollout of new operating models and technology needed to support and improve execution internationally.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required minimum of 10+ years of experience with experience in headquarter-based retail operations leadership roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or other relevant field.
- Experience operating in international markets and cultures.
- Proven track record of developing and executing effective retail operations with significant experience maintaining retail calendars, rolling out initiatives, and identifying/driving process improvement opportunities.
- Strong ability to influence and collaborate across different levels of the organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling assets and presentations.
- Strong organizational abilities with the ability to multi-task and pivot frequently based on business changes.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using retail communication or task management platforms.
- Ability to travel to international stores based on business demand.
The base salary range for this position is $150,000.00- $180,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
