
Associate Scientist II/III, in vitro Biology
Your Purpose
Alpha-9 Oncology is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist with a strong background in mammalian cell culture to join our innovative Biology Group. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Translational Biology and Preclinical Research to support the discovery and development of novel radiopharmaceutical therapies. You'll have the opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge research in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that fosters learning and career progression.
You will play a key role in developing and maintaining cell-based models, supporting in vitro and in vivo studies, and ensuring smooth lab operations. Your contributions will directly impact our mission to advance targeted radiopharmaceutical treatments, allowing you to see the tangible results of your work while growing alongside a passionate and driven team. This role is based in our Vancouver office.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the cell culture expert, cultivating, maintaining, and expanding various mammalian cell lines with precision and care.
- Prepare cells for in vitro and in vivo experiments, ensuring consistency and reliability.
- Monitor cell growth, document observations, and report any changes in morphology, behavior, or growth rates.
- Prepare media, reagents, and chemicals for biological assays.
- Collect and process samples for routine quality control testing (e.g., mycoplasma testing).
- Support day-to-day lab operations, including inventory management, ordering consumables, and maintaining lab equipment.
- Collaborate closely with the research biology team to ensure smooth workflow and project efficiency.
- Maintain clear, accurate records and adhere to safety and compliance protocols.
- Assist in writing SOPs and keeping lab equipment properly calibrated and certified.
- Take on additional tasks within the biology group as needed.
What You Bring
- B.S. in Biology or a related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or an M.S. in a related field with 1+ year of industry experience.
- Proven hands-on experience with aseptic techniques and mammalian cell culture.
- Familiarity of lab management practices, including inventory tracking and equipment maintenance.
- Strong observational, organizational, and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment dedicated to advancing targeted cancer therapies.
