We’re Hiring: Data Lead – Advisory / Alternative Advisory
Are you a technically skilled, business-savvy data professional passionate about alternative investments and private markets? Join our Advisory practice as a Data Lead and play a pivotal role bridging cutting-edge data architecture with strategic consulting.
About the Role:
As our Alternatives Data Lead, you will own the Private Market data model and architecture best practices, acting as the critical link between management consulting teams and technical delivery units. You will spearhead vendor technical designs, blueprint integration frameworks, and manage an extensive system connector inventory — ensuring seamless data integration and migration that drives impactful business decisions.
What You’ll Do:
- Own and evolve the private market data model with a deep understanding of data lineage and architecture design principles
- Maintain and manage system integration inventories, staying ahead of technical capabilities and innovations
- Collaborate with technical teams to design robust integration frameworks and support enterprise performance management solutions
- Function as a trusted client advisor, simplifying technical concepts around data warehousing and BI/reporting for diverse audiences
- Support business growth by translating complex requirements into technical solutions and contributing to sales engagements
- Oversee scoping and design of scalable data migration initiatives
- Facilitate effective collaboration between advisory consultants and technology teams to drive successful project delivery
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in data modelling, data architecture, or data management within consulting or technology contexts
- Strong knowledge of private market data and alternative investment applications
- Hands-on experience with system integration planning and managing connector/APIs inventories
- Familiarity with data warehousing, BI tools, and data lineage methodologies
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to advise both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Skilled in scoping and designing complex data migrations and integrations (coding not required)
- A sales-minded approach with experience supporting technical sales processes
- Collaborative, proactive, and adept at navigating between business and technical teams
Preferred:
- Background in consulting, financial services, or technology supporting alternatives/private markets
- Experience with BPM/EPM solutions
- Knowledge of cloud data architectures and modern data stack technologies

Responsibilities
You will work on client engagement teams participating in the entire lifecycle of designing and implementing best-practice Valuation models. You will help to manage current state / future state analysis, strategic design, initiative prioritization, sequencing, roadmapping and a phased approach to delivery. Through that journey it will be important for you to build strong client relationships of trust and domain experience. As you build knowledge and experience, you'll become a credible advisor to junior consultants within the organization, as well as your clients, helping them accelerate the delivery of products and services to their users. As Alpha Alternatives continues its growth to a leader in Private Markets Technology, your ability to stay at the forefront of innovative solutions will be critical.

- Passion for teaching our clients new methods and ways of working
- Strong communication skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities in a client's operating model to execute more effectively
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years experience doing Valuation Work and/or management consulting, technology or operating in the Private Markets Investment Industry
- Experience in all of the various valuation methodologies for a Private Equity Investment

- Experience working with a Portfolio Monitoring Technology (ie, Chronograph, 73 Strings, Dynamo, Cobalt, iLevel, AtomInvest)
- Strong Project Management skills
- Experience in constructing client deliverables including Business Requirement Document (BRD), Process Flows, Functional Capability Matrix, Project Plans / Roadmaps, Data Dictionary, IT Architecture Design, Data Flow Diagrams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to create a compelling story from data analysis
- Experience communicating with senior executives
- Experience defining, communicating and tracking metrics for success (OKRs and KPIs)
- Ambitious and entrepreneurial in nature with the desire to grow in a collaborative environment

There are a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to - skill sets, experience and training, and licensure and certifications. A reasonable estimate of the salary range is $77,000 to $127,000 subject to change based on salary benchmarking. In addition to this salary, candidates will be eligible for a variable bonus.
