The Opportunity

At Alpha Inc., we believe taking care of our people isn’t optional — it’s foundational.

We’re looking for a Benefits Specialist who understands that benefits administration isn’t just paperwork — it’s service. It’s clarity. It’s trust.

This role is for someone who thrives in the details, communicates with empathy, and takes pride in making sure employees and their families understand and fully access the benefits available to them.

You won’t be redesigning programs or building infrastructure.
You will be the steady, knowledgeable, go-to expert our employees rely on.

If you’re organized, responsive, compliance-minded, and genuinely care about helping people navigate important life matters — this is your role.

About Alpha Inc.

Alpha Inc. is a locally owned and operated leader in heavy civil construction, renewable energy, concrete services, water well drilling, and infrastructure solutions across Hawaiʻi.

We build projects that serve island communities for generations — and we believe the strength of our company starts with how we support our people.

We live by three core values:

Lead with Heart – Humility, empathy, and respect in every interaction.
Strength in Unity – We collaborate and support one another.
Alpha Mentality – Accountability, grit, and pride in doing things right.

As Benefits Specialist, you’ll help bring these values to life by ensuring our team members feel informed, supported, and cared for.

What You Will Do

Benefits Administration & Employee Support

  • Administer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and voluntary benefits programs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and concerns.

  • Provide timely, accurate, and empathetic support to employees and their families.

  • Manage employee enrollments, status changes, terminations, and qualifying life events.

  • Coordinate and administer open enrollment processes.

  • Assist employees with claims issues and act as liaison with carriers when needed.

  • Maintain accurate records within HRIS and benefits platforms.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure benefits administration complies with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and Hawaiʻi-specific regulations.

  • Support leave of absence (LOA) and accommodation tracking in partnership with Employee Relations.

  • Maintain organized documentation and reporting related to benefits administration.

  • Assist with benefits audits and data requests as needed.

Vendor & Internal Coordination

  • Communicate with benefits carriers and vendors to ensure timely processing and issue resolution.

  • Coordinate closely with HR and Finance to ensure accurate payroll deductions and reporting.

  • Support employee education efforts by clearly communicating plan details and changes.

This role requires precision, confidentiality, and a genuine commitment to service.

What You Bring

Experience

  • 3–5+ years of experience in benefits administration or total rewards with a benefits focus.

  • Knowledge of federal and Hawaiʻi-specific benefits compliance requirements.

  • Experience managing open enrollment cycles and employee benefits communications.

  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits platforms.

  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.

Skills & Mindset

  • Service-oriented and approachable — employees feel comfortable coming to you.

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • High level of discretion when handling sensitive information.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.

Most importantly, you embody:

Lead with Heart – You treat benefits questions with care and patience.
Strength in Unity – You collaborate across teams to support employees.
Alpha Mentality – You take ownership and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Why Alpha?

Because here, people matter.

You’ll join a company that:

  • Invests heavily in employee benefits.

  • Believes strong internal support builds strong external performance.

  • Values accountability, responsiveness, and professionalism.

  • Is proud to serve Hawaiʻi — and the people who make that possible.

If you’re ready to be the trusted benefits resource our employees rely on — we’d love to meet you.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
