The Opportunity

Alpha Inc. is looking for a Shipping & Logistics Specialist who thrives in the details, owns the moving parts, and doesn’t let chaos win.

This is not a “just print labels and track packages” job.

This is a mission-critical role for someone who can build order out of motion — someone who knows that behind every successful project is a logistics machine that actually works. You’ll coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, manage documentation, support equipment and vehicle logistics, work with carriers and suppliers, and help keep operations tight, compliant, and moving across the islands and beyond.

If you’re the kind of person who catches what others miss, solves problems before they become expensive, and takes pride in making complex logistics look easy, keep reading.

About Alpha Inc.

Founded and grown in Hawaiʻi, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in civil construction, drilling, renewable energy, and concrete resources. We do work that matters — the kind that serves communities, strengthens infrastructure, and helps build Hawaiʻi’s future. Alpha’s public-facing materials emphasize those same business lines and the company’s commitment to its people and the islands.

At Alpha Inc., we are guided by three core values:

Leading with Heart – You create a seamless, secure shipping process while supporting the people around you with professionalism and respect.
Strength in Unity – You work across teams, vendors, carriers, and receiving locations to keep operations aligned and deliveries on track.
Alpha Mentality – You bring urgency, ownership, and high standards to every shipment, every document, and every handoff.

What You Will Do

As Shipping & Logistics Specialist, you’ll help run the logistics backbone of Alpha’s Equipment team. You’ll be trusted to keep shipments organized, compliant, cost-effective, and moving without unnecessary friction.

Own the Shipping Process

  • Coordinate and manage incoming and outgoing shipments of supplies, materials, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ensure deliveries are scheduled, routed, received, and tracked accurately across locations.
  • Package materials securely and verify that shipments are sent to the correct destination, on time.

Keep Documentation Tight

  • Prepare, generate, and organize shipping documents, including bills of lading, shipping orders, labels, receipts, and related records.
  • Record and report shipment data such as weight, charges, job codes, space availability, and discrepancies.
  • Provide accurate shipment coding and documentation to Accounting for timely processing.

Build Structure, Not Scramble

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an organized shipping and logistics system.
  • Help establish and maintain a database of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve consistency and reduce errors.
  • Ensure all internal shipping procedures align with company standards and operational needs.

Manage Vendor & Carrier Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, carriers, and backup vendors.
  • Help negotiate shipping and delivery services with an eye toward reliability, service, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with carriers to identify the best shipping methods, routes, and rates.

Support Equipment & Compliance Operations

  • Research and monitor trade and logistics requirements for new country entries and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Assist with purchasing, renting, and leasing equipment and vehicles.
  • Support licensing, permitting, registration, titling, and insurance claim processes tied to equipment and vehicles.
  • Manage the E360 system by adding, adjusting, and removing equipment as needed.
  • Ensure shipping activity complies with internal policies and relevant industry requirements.

Raise the Standard

  • Spot gaps, solve problems fast, and bring a high level of organization and follow-through to the role.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned, with the mindset that excellence lives in the details.

What You Bring

You’re organized, proactive, and built for a role where precision matters.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in shipping and logistics.
  • Experience in the construction industry is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple moving priorities.
  • Experience handling shipping documentation, logistics coordination, and vendor communication.
  • Working knowledge of logistics systems and recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Mindset

  • You don’t wait to be chased down for follow-up.
  • You communicate clearly, solve issues early, and stay steady under pressure.
  • You take ownership of the process, not just the task.
  • You care about accuracy because mistakes in logistics cost time, money, and trust.

Who Succeeds Here

The strongest candidates for this role are not just “experienced in shipping.” They are operators. They know how to create structure, protect timelines, and keep internal customers confident that the logistics side is handled.

They lead with heart.
They work in unity.
They bring the Alpha Mentality every day.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
