Superintendent - Vertical - Kauai

Kauai, Hawaii

Location: Kaua'i
Reports to: Operations Manager
Department: Alpha Vertical
Position Type: Full-Time
Status: Exempt

Compensation: Annual Base Salary $130,000-$150,000.00

The Opportunity

Alpha Vertical is looking for a Superintendent who knows how to run a jobsite without running over people.

This is not a clipboard-only role. This is a boots-on-the-ground, lead-from-the-front, make-it-happen kind of role.

You’ll be the field leader who turns plans into progress — driving safety, production, quality, coordination, and accountability across vertical construction projects. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, and leadership to keep jobs moving, teams aligned, and standards high.

If you know how to own the schedule, solve problems before they become delays, and build crews that perform because they respect your leadership — not just your title — keep reading.

About Alpha Inc.

Founded and grown in Maui, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in civil construction, vertical construction, drilling, renewable energy, concrete, and infrastructure solutions. We build work that matters — the kind that strengthens communities and leaves a legacy.

At Alpha, our values are not wall art. They drive how we lead, how we work, and who we hire:

Leading with Heart – We lead with humility, empathy, accountability, and respect.
Strength in Unity – We work as one team, across roles and departments, to win together.
Alpha Mentality – We bring grit, ownership, high standards, and the drive to keep getting better.

As Superintendent – Alpha Vertical, you’ll be expected to live those values loudly, consistently, and credibly in the field.

What You Will Do

As Superintendent, you’ll be the operational heartbeat of assigned vertical construction projects — translating scope into execution and keeping the field focused, productive, and accountable.

Lead Field Execution

  • Oversee day-to-day field operations for assigned vertical construction projects to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and at a high level of quality.
  • Direct and coordinate field activities with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain command of site logistics, sequencing, manpower, materials, and equipment to keep projects moving.

Own the Schedule

  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term project schedules.
  • Adjust sequencing, manpower, and priorities as needed to hit milestones and meet deadlines.
  • Anticipate roadblocks early and take action before they impact production.

Drive Accountability and Performance

  • Monitor daily production, site progress, labor utilization, subcontractor performance, and equipment usage.
  • Lead and support Foremen and field teams to raise the bar on execution, teamwork, and consistency.
  • Hold the line on standards while coaching people to grow.

Build Strong Communication Across the Job

  • Serve as the key bridge between the office and the field.
  • Keep Project Managers, leadership, crews, and trade partners informed, aligned, and moving in the same direction.
  • Lead jobsite meetings, safety huddles, and coordination meetings with clarity and purpose.

Protect Safety and Quality Relentlessly

  • Promote and reinforce a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and jobsite safety expectations.
  • Enforce quality control standards and verify work is completed according to plans, specifications, and Alpha expectations.

Solve Problems Before They Spread

  • Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to support effective planning and field execution.
  • Identify and resolve issues involving constructability, manpower, logistics, quality, safety, and scheduling.
  • Bring solutions, not drama.

Help Build the Bench

  • Support hiring, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of Foremen and field personnel.
  • Help develop the next generation of strong field leaders within Alpha Vertical.
  • Contribute to process improvements that strengthen consistency, productivity, and communication across projects.

What You Bring

You are a builder of projects, teams, and standards.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in vertical construction, with progressive leadership in field operations, supervision, or project execution.
  • Proven success managing crews, subcontractors, schedules, and shifting priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of vertical construction means and methods, sequencing, logistics, safety requirements, quality control, and manpower planning.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered.

Skills & Mindset

  • Able to read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Strong leadership instincts with the ability to motivate teams, enforce accountability, and earn trust.
  • Sharp problem-solving and decision-making skills in the field.
  • Clear communicator who can align crews, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with construction software and documentation tools such as HCSS, HeavyJob, or Adobe Acrobat is preferred.

What Makes You an A Player Here

  • You take ownership.
  • You can push for results without burning people out or blowing up the culture.
  • You know the difference between being busy and being effective.
  • You raise the standard for everyone around you.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
