The Opportunity:
Alpha Lion is on the hunt for a Retention Marketing Manager to lead the charge in driving customer loyalty, increasing repurchase rates, and maximizing lifetime value (LTV). In this role, you will own the end-to-end development and execution of retention initiatives that create a seamless and engaging customer experience, fostering long-term brand affinity.
With a data-driven and customer-first approach, you will leverage advanced segmentation and behavioral insights to anticipate and remove barriers to repurchase—whether they stem from product experience, marketing messaging, or the broader customer journey. You will proactively identify opportunities to enhance retention by deeply understanding customer behaviors and segment-specific needs, ensuring each touchpoint encourages repeat engagement and sustained revenue growth.
Working closely with the Head of Retention, you will design, implement, and optimize both short- and long-term strategies with measurable outcomes, ensuring that every retention initiative directly contributes to incremental revenue and business growth. From email, SMS, and push campaigns to loyalty-driving strategies, your efforts will be instrumental in shaping how Alpha Lion keeps customers engaged and coming back for more.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and optimize email, SMS, push notifications, and subscription marketing to increase repurchase rates, customer lifetime value (LTV), and incremental revenue. Ensure alignment with the company’s main marketing calendar.
- Improve customer retention flows by analyzing behavioral data and refining onboarding, post-purchase, and win-back strategies to drive repeat purchases.
- Develop a structured testing roadmap across all owned channels (email, SMS, pop-ups, onsite navigation) to enhance personalization and engagement.
- Oversee strategies to grow subscriptions, reduce churn, and improve collection rates while helping build a best-in-class loyalty program that fosters long-term customer advocacy.
- Maintain the Retention KPI Tracker, analyzing key metrics like LTV, churn, AOV, and first-month retention to optimize performance and uncover growth opportunities.
- Lead the implementation of pop-ups to maximize subscriber acquisition, optimize triggers and offers, and enhance conversion rates.
- Use data insights to optimize app engagement, refine push notifications, and enhance shopping experiences with gamification and exclusive incentives.
- Work closely with Acquisition, Product Development, and Customer Service teams to eliminate friction points, improve retention strategies, and enhance the customer experience.
- Manage and collaborate with specialists across email, SMS, subscription, and loyalty programs, ensuring efficient execution and continuous innovation in retention marketing.
Requirements:
Traits:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in retention marketing, email marketing, or lifecycle marketing, with at least 3 years in an e-commerce retention role.
- Proven experience in designing and building retention programs across Customer Service (CS), Customer Experience (CX), Subscription, or Loyalty programs—not just executing, but owning strategy.
- Strong understanding of key customer retention metrics (LTV, AOV, churn, repurchase rate) and how to leverage data to improve performance.
- Hands-on experience with marketing automation tools such as Klaviyo, Shopify, Postscript, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or other BI platforms) to track, measure, and optimize retention efforts.
- Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional projects, ensuring seamless execution of retention strategies.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, demonstrating strong communication, collaboration, and self-motivation.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Passion for data-driven marketing and customer engagement, with a relentless drive to improve retention strategies.
