Tax Analyst, Temporary Contract

The Opportunity: 

Alpha Lion is seeking a tax analyst to join our finance team. The finance team is responsible for accurate and timely tax reporting to different jurisdictions within the US.  In this temporary role, you will be responsible for preparing sales tax returns,  reviewing tax notices, and completing projects related to sales tax as directed.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare sales tax returns 
• Prepare, file, and make payments for sales tax returns for various states 
• Review tax notices 
• Monitor mailbox and review tax notices
• Create and execute action plan for each notice received 
• Ad-hoc sales tax projects 
• As directed by the controller, complete projects related to sales tax, such as system and process improvements 

Traits

• You demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, goal orientation, and a strong work ethic
• You have a strong problem-solving mindset
• You are self-motivated and are able to work independently

Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or other related field
• Experience with sales tax in a variety of US states
• Experience with ecommerce business located in the US
• Experience with Avalara preferred 
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
