The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to drive the architectural strategy and technical execution across our 80+ engineer Application Portfolio, encompassing all Web, Mobile, and Headless surfaces. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role where you will set the vision for our technology transformation, bridging the gap between deep frontend architecture and scalable, agentic API-first platforms. You will partner with Product leadership to drive customer-obsessed engineering, ensuring that our technical choices directly accelerate product velocity and user value.
Responsibilities:
- Architectural Vision: Define and drive the technical strategy for the entire Applications Portfolio, establishing deep frontend architecture standards (Web, Mobile, Headless) to ensure consistency, scalability, and performance.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Act as a key mentor and coach to senior engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence, high-impact decision-making, and proactive problem-solving.
- Product-Engineering Synergy: Collaborate deeply with Product leadership to drive roadmaps, ensuring engineering strategy is inherently aligned with customer needs and product evolution.
- Strategic Alignment: Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams regarding goals, outcomes, and timelines for complex, multi-team projects.
- Technology Transformation: Spearhead the evolution of our application architecture from a 'feature factory' model to a platform-driven system, modernizing API layers and integrating emerging standards like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enable next-generation agentic workflows.
- Design Systems Partnership: Partner closely with Design Systems teams to define and influence the evolution of shared UI components and design tokens, ensuring seamless integration with engineering architectural standards.
- Technical Governance: Identify and reduce systemic technical risks, enforce design principles, and raise the bar through hands-on technical reviews and prototyping.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience (15+ years) as a senior/principal-level software engineer with deep expertise in Frontend architecture and large-scale application systems.
- Proven success leading technology transformation across organizations of 80+ engineers.
- Deep understanding of modern API design (REST, GraphQL) and its application in highly distributed, agentic environments.
- Demonstrated experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar agent-integration patterns.
- Strong product mindset: proven history of collaborating with Product leaders to solve complex customer problems with customer-obsession.
- Ability to balance high-level architectural strategy with hands-on, production-level coding.
- Extensive experience evaluating and adopting new frontend technologies and frameworks, expertly balancing innovation with long-term maintainability.
- Proven track record of designing and scaling robust frontend architectures that support high-traffic, complex user interfaces across massive datasets.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to facilitate clarity and drive consensus across distributed teams.
