Chemical Engineering Project Manager

As a Chemical Engineering Project Manager you will be responsible for;
- Planning, executing, and finalizing construction/commissioning of Class I Division I projects according to deadline and budget.
- Defining, supporting, and executing the project's objectives, and overseeing quality control of the project
- Responsible for the cost, schedule, and optimization of craft labor, contractor cost, on-site labor, and other construction/commissioning expenses as well as maintaining a look-ahead schedule for labor and equipment.
- Interacting closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Project Controls on progress and updates throughout the project.
- Ensure the applicable design document for civil, mechanical, piping, and instrumentation commodities is provided to direct craft personnel to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- If any design, either physical or software, changes are approved and made, ensure that redline markups are sent back to the appropriate Engineers for inclusion in the final design package.
- Ensuring core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
- Providing leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident, and fire prevention on the project. Will have to have a strong presence at job sites as needed or required.
- Will be responsible for regular safety meetings to include contractor safety orientation; weekly on-site safety inspections; accident/incident investigations; general, site-specific, safety training; development of safety toolbox talks and pre-task plans.
- Reviewing and approving major equipment mobilization and demobilization.
- Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned work activities or applicable project-specific policies and procedures.
- Coordinating with other discipline superintendents with established building or area construction/commissioning work activities and plans.
- Preparing material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinating through Procurement to obtain these materials.
- Preparing reports and forecasts, including a summary of construction/commissioning progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
- Planning the manpower and equipment required to execute the job.
- Maintaining customer relations ensuring their satisfaction
Qualifications;
- 5-10 years of project management/project engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college as a minimum; BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred
- Chemical or Mechanical Engineer with experience/interest in working in a Class I Division I chemical plant.
- Familiarity with vacuum chambers, pumps, agitators, and automated valves.
- Ability to jump in and learn new technologies.
- Hands-on PM experience with soft problem-solving skills within constraints, team management, and conflict resolution.
- Understanding of construction codes and OSHA safety requirements.
- Understanding of project plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of contract documents and change orders.
- Ability to ensure complete and accurate daily documentation of construction/commissioning activities by the different crews and/or subcontractors.
- Technical expertise throughout the construction/commissioning process.
- Ability to plan for a range of projects from large-scale and multi-step projects to smaller-scale, single-technology projects.
- Excellent customer service attitude and follow-through skills.
- Ability to be flexible in a constantly evolving environment.
Salary Range: $55/hr-$65/hr + OT
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
Location: Beaumont, TX is the site location. Preference is to have an on-site local resource, but we are open to someone outside of the area who is open to heavy travel (1-2 weeks/month)
