
DeltaV Automation Engineer

Seeking an experienced DeltaV programmer to lead process automation efforts in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Responsibilities include programming control modules, batch automation (SFCs, recipe management), and integrating DeltaV with PLCs, SCADA, and enterprise systems. Requires 3+ years in automation, expertise in ISA 88, GMP compliance, and software development. Strong knowledge of P&IDs, process control strategies, and troubleshooting is essential. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
Responsibilities;
- Programming the following with DeltaV:
- Process control (Control Modules, Function Block Diagrams (FBD))
- Batch automation (Sequential Function Charts (SFCs), Batch Control & Recipe Management)
- System integration (PLC & SCADA Integration, OPC, Modbus, PROFIBUS, and Ethernet/IP, PLCs, MES, ERP)
- Lead process automation software development and programming efforts specific to DeltaV systems
- Develop and document detailed design steps ensuring clear operational guidelines.
- Collaborate with system integrators, program and configure DeltaV, integrating custom control logic
- Translate functional specifications into programming and automation logic
- Ensure consistency of automation deliverables across the assigned area.
- Participate in P&ID reviews to derive S88 physical models and ensure their accurate implementation in DeltaV.
- Assist in defining and writing DeltaV software components and custom logic to optimize equipment and process functionality.
- Support and participate in automation software testing
- Maintain and manage the issue tracker, identifying and documenting remediation efforts needed for process control software.
- Identify and analyze technical risks specific to automation implementation and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, GMP’s, and computer system validation principles during all phases of the project.
Qualifications;
- 3+ years of hands-on automation systems programming experience, including creating and modifying control strategies, phases, and recipes.
- Deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, including API/bulk manufacturing, and the associated process control needs.
- Knowledge of ISA 88 and GAMP guidelines for batch and process automation.
- Proficient in deriving automation control strategies from PFDs and P&IDs to functional DeltaV
- Exposure to related automation platforms and control systems (e.g., SCADA, PLCs).
- Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience with Agile methodologies.
- Experience in preparing detailed design documentation
- Familiarity with integration of SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and APIs into DeltaV is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Control Systems
- Bachelor's or Graduate’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Computer) or equivalent relevant experience.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
