Job Summary
We are seeking a Process Quality & Documentation Engineer to support manufacturing operations through the creation, validation, and maintenance of critical process documentation and quality risk controls. This role combines process quality engineering (control plans, risk analysis, inspection strategy, KC/CTI reporting) with process documentation management (work instructions, routings, manufacturing cards, system uploads). The position requires close collaboration with Multi-Functional Teams (MFT) and stakeholders to ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal quality systems, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Control Plans & Risk Management
- Create, update, and maintain Control Plans using inputs such as PFMEAs, work instructions, routings, and process standards.
- Define technical inspection criteria for different inspection levels (L1, L2, L3).
- Identify and report Key Characteristics (KCs) and Critical to Inspection (CTI) features, ensuring full traceability.
- Contribute to risk reporting and support corrective/preventive action management.
- Support problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives focused on process capability and quality performance.
Process Documentation
- Create, update, and validate standard operating instructions (SOIs) and ensure alignment with manufacturing requirements.
- Develop and maintain S-routings that define work centers, operations, resources, and standard times.
- Create and maintain Master Inspection Characteristic (MICs) or equivalent documentation to support production processes.
- Process and close change requests (e.g., Comsheets, action trackers) to keep documentation current.
- Ensure all documentation is properly validated, version-controlled, and integrated into relevant systems (e.g., SAP, PLM, or equivalent).
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance
- Work closely with Multi-Functional Teams (MFTs) to review and approve process risk controls and documentation.
- Ensure consistency and compliance of all documentation with internal standards, customer requirements, and audit expectations.
- Train and support operators, engineers, and quality teams in the use of Control Plans, SOIs, and inspection strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3-8 years of experience in process engineering or quality engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Control Plans, PFMEA, inspection methods, and KC/CTI management.
- Experience with process documentation systems such as routings, SOIs, and MICs (or equivalents).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, routings, and measurement standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of APQP, AS9100/IATF16949, or equivalent quality frameworks.
- Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, or ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer).
Salary Range: $70K-$75K
